Solid-state N.M.R. studies of platinum and tin compounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
High-resolution solid-state N.M.R. studies of dilute spins are now possible using cross-polarisation and MAS techniques. A systematic evaluation has been undertaken to determine their applicability to spin-½ metal nuclei, in particular (^195)Pt and (^119)

Evaluation of Strip Rolling Directly from the Semi-Solid State

open access: yes, 2006
The aim of this work is to study the solidification conditions necessary to produce good quality/low defect metal alloy strip when thixorolling directly from the semi-solid state.

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Evaluation of temperature and moisture response surface on the lipase from pumpkin seeds fermentation using Aspergillus niger - doi: 10.4025/actascitechnol.v34i3.12497

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Technology, 2012
Agro-industrial waste has shown great potential for use in solid-state fermentation due to its low cost and promoting the growth of microorganisms. This study evaluated the interaction between temperature and moisture response surface on lipase from the ...

Fate of Pomeranchuk effect in ultrahigh magnetic fields

open access: yesNature Communications
The Pomeranchuk effect is a counterintuitive phenomenon where liquid helium-3 (3He) solidifies under specific pressures, not when cooled, but when heated.

Solid State Ion.

open access: yes, 2005
Nanocrystalline scandia-doped zirconia (ScSZ) ceramics with a relative density of above 96% and an average grain size of similar to 80 nm were prepared via pressureless sintering at 900 degrees C for 4 h in air.

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,
