Transport and structural properties of (CH3)4NBF4 with nanodiamonds filler

open access: yesChimica Techno Acta
Composite solid electrolytes are promising materials for electrochemical devices. The most interesting ionic components for them are salts of substituted ammonium due to their high thermal and electrochemical stability, but the properties of composites ...

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

Bulk and Surface Chemistry of the Niobium MAX and MXene Phases from Multinuclear Solid-State NMR Spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2020
MXenes, derived from layered MAX phases, are a class of two-dimensional materials with emerging applications in energy storage, electronics, catalysis, and other fields due to their high surface areas, metallic conductivity, biocompatibility and ...

α‐Synuclein aggregation landscape from phase separation to neurotoxic intermediates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Alpha‐synuclein aggregation in Parkinson's disease involves a complex landscape of transient intermediates, including oligomers, fibrils and liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS). A view is emerging in which LLPS maturation into solid‐like condensates may contribute to the formation of neurotoxic species.

Solid state NMR of sulfa-drugs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
This work has been a study of systems, mostly of sulfa-drugs, showing polymorphic behaviour. Using different means as solid state NMR, X-ray analysis, and theoretical calculations, we have seen how it is possible to understand results obtained from the ...

La3TaO7 derivatives with Weberite structure type: Possible electrolytes for solid oxide fuel cells and high temperature electrolysers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this study, with the aim to enhance the ionic conduction of known structures by defect chemistry, the La2O3-Ta2O5 system was considered with a focus on the La3TaO7 phase whose structure is of Weberite type.

In-situ modification of nanostructured hydroxyapatite by CdS particles

open access: yesФизико-химические аспекты изучения кластеров, наноструктур и наноматериалов
The article discusses the possibility of obtaining functional composite materials with pronounced photocatalytic properties. A hybrid composite material has been developed by in-situ modification of nanostructured hydroxyapatite obtained by precipitation

Assembled molecular face-rotating polyhedra to transfer chirality from two to three dimensions

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
Protein subunits on the capsids of icosahedral viruses can form patterns with rotational symmetry, which are difficult to recreate in the laboratory. Here the authors report a strategy to construct 3D chiral polyhedra with rotational faces from 2D chiral

Diffuzionno-hardening solders based alloy gallium-indium-tin and powder of metal PCTSP5 reinforced with titanium [PDF]

open access: yesФизико-химические аспекты изучения кластеров, наноструктур и наноматериалов, 2018
The paper considers a new composition of diffusion-hardening solder based on a low-melting gallium alloy and copper-tin spherical powder (PCTSP5). The influence of the powder filler – titanium composition on the structure and properties of solder for ...

Identification of a Shiga toxin A‐derived peptide internalized into Gb3 receptor‐bearing cells via interaction with the Shiga toxin B subunit

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The process of internalization of the Shiga toxin A subunit via formation of a complex with the Shiga toxin B subunit, which specifically binds to the Gb3 receptor. The peptide is designed to act as a carrier of drugs into cancer cells. Here, we explored the potential of peptides derived from the catalytic A subunit of Shiga toxin (STxA) to be drug ...
