RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Modeling and simulation of phase-transitions in multicomponent aluminum alloy casting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The casting process of aluminum products involves the spatial distribution of alloying elements. It is essential that these elements are uniformly distributed in order to guarantee reliable and consistent products.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Optimization of directional energy deposition forming process of high-strength aluminum alloy based on laser mode control

open access: yesCailiao gongcheng
Due to the low boiling points of the main constituents of 7075 aluminum alloy and the high surface tension gradient of the molten alloy, combined with the uneven energy distribution of the circular Gaussian (CG) laser beam spot commonly used in directed ...

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Orientation control of multiple single crystal blades using a novel high-throughput mold via seeding-grain selection technique

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
As the increasing demand for high temperature performance of the Ni-based single crystal blades, the orientation consistency of the blades has become more and more important.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Investigation of solidification in zero-gravity environment: M553 sphere forming experiment. Nickel-silver alloy evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes
The processing of nickel-silver alloy specimens in space is discussed. Four specimens were melted only partially, while a fifth was melted completely and assumed after solidification a perfectly spherical shape.

Microsegregation and inclusion development during the casting of steel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The enrichment of composition in the residual liquid during solidification is of itself an important parameter regarding the fitness for purpose of the alloy and, furthermore, will have a major influence on the precipitates and oxide inclusions that can ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.
