Soluble Carbohydrates in Several Transylvanian Potato Cultivars. [PDF]
This paper is the first to report the soluble carbohydrate content at harvest for eight Transylvanian potato cultivars: Christian, Cumidava, Kronstadt, Riviera, Roclas, Rustic, Tampa and Zamolxis. The aim of this study is to explore the soluble carbohydrate composition of the above-mentioned cultivars, since such quantitative information is important ...

The Soluble Carbohydrates of Aspergillus clavatus [PDF]
SUMMARY: A recent report that the major soluble carbohydrates of Aspergillus clavatus include ribitol and sorbose is wrong. The pentitol is arabitol and no sorbose could be detected, demonstrating that A. clavatus is not unlike many other moulds. Previous work on the metabolism of acyclic polyols in A. clavatus is re-evaluated.

Changes in Soluble Carbohydrates during Seed Storage [PDF]
The soluble sugars present in the maize (Zea mays L.) embryo may serve as important components of protection or may contribute to the deteriorative changes occurring during seed storage. Examination of the changes in sugars during accelerated aging of maize seeds indicates that the decline in vigor is associated with a marked decline in monosaccharides

WATER‐SOLUBLE CARBOHYDRATES OF SEEDS OF THE GRAMINEAE [PDF]
summaryQualitative and quantitative determinations have been made of the sugars, oligosaccha‐rides and water‐soluble polysaccharides of the seeds of twenty‐two species of the Gramineae.Although in most species sucrose was the most plentiful free sugar, in Lolium perenne and in Festuca pratensis a trisaccharide which contained residues of galactose ...

Workflow for the Quantification of Soluble and Insoluble Carbohydrates in Soybean Seed [PDF]
Soybean seed composition has a profound impact on its market value and commercial use as an important commodity. Increases in oil and protein content have been historically pursued by breeders and genetic engineers; consequently, rapid methods for their quantification are well established. The interest in complete carbohydrate profiles in mature seeds,

Effect of Processing on the Soluble Carbohydrate Content of Lentils
Lentils ( Lens culinaris ), like other legumes, are important both nutritionally and agriculturally. Soaking of lentil drastically reduce the quantities of α-galactosides present in the raw material (45-100% reduction). Analysis of the soaking medium (distilled water, 0.1% citric acid solution, 0.07% sodium bicarbonate solution) showed that these ...

The Water-Soluble Carbohydrates of Papaver Somniferum L
Abstract From an aqueous extract of opium poppy capsules of Yugoslavian origin, the following carbohydrates were isolated: glucose, fructose, sucrose, sedoheptulose, mannoheptulose, plus a complex polysaccharide. The polysaccharide was isolated in two different ways, by means of an ion exchange resin and by precipitation with ethanol ...

Soluble carbohydrate content of ryegrass cultivars
A set of 18 ryegrass cultivars and breeders' lines, some selected for elevated concentrations of high molecular weight fructan, were compared for forage composition in mown row trials at two sites, in Canterbury and Manawatu. Cultivars varied significantly and consistently, with cultivars selected for elevated high molecular weight fructan showing ...
