Solubility of a Silicate Cement
Journal of Dental Research, 1970Samples of a silicate cement were soaked in different environments for varying lengths of time. The resulting solutions were analyzed for Na, Zn, Ca, Al, and Si by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. All of the elements showed a decreasing rate of solution with increasing time.

1. The solubilities of silicic acid gels in water at 25.9° and 97° were studied. 2. It was shown that the silicic acid that passed into solution was present entirely in, the form of simple molecules and ions capable of reacting with molybdic acid.

Solubility limits of silicate melts
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1997A statistical mechanical model of silica melt is presented in which metal oxides are incorporated into the bonding network. In this approach a Flory-type lattice model for binary silicate melts is coupled with a set of chemical reactions that determine the extent of metal oxide incorporation into the silica network and regulate the distribution of ...

Efflorescence of soluble silicate coatings
Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 1991Abstract Efflorescence of soluble silicate coatings has a serious effect on the properties of the coatings. Efflorescence results in the formation of a whitish powder on the surface of the coating, and causes the silicate material to become brittle and lose adhesion.
