Soluble silicate-based coatings for fire protection

Fire Technology, 1989
A fire protective coating based on a soluble silicate was investigated in terms of intumescence, water sensitivity, and water absorption versus relative humidity. An acidic curing agent was used to improve the coating performance. The mechanism of intumescence of the silicate-based material was studied using DSC and TGA techniques.

Solubility characteristics of synthetic silicate sulphate apatites

Journal of Materials Science, 1993
Isomorphic substitution of (Si, S) for phosphorus in apatite (Ca5(PO)3F) was investigated in the solid solution series from P-apatite to (Si, S)-apatite utilizing compositions of Ca5(PO4)3−x (SiO4)x/2(SO4)x/2F with x=0, 0.75, 1.5, 2, 2.25, 3. Study of the solubility characteristics of these apatites showed an increased weight loss in water with ...

Viscosities and solubilities of synthetic detergent mixtures containing soluble silicates

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1953
SummarySlurries containing synthetic detergents, silicates, phosphates, and sometimes other additives, were prepared and their viscosities measured at several stresses. Portions of the mixtures were oven‐dried and dilute solutions prepared. Their turbidities and pH values were determined.Mixtures of silicate with pyrophosphate yielded lower viscosities

Nanocomposites based on organic alkali soluble silicates

2016 International Conference on Nanomaterials: Application & Properties (NAP), 2016
The article describes the properties of soluble, organic silicates and their applications to obtaining nanocomposite materials. The aim of this paper is the comparison properties of binders based on liquid glass containing alkali metals and strong organic bases silicates. Advantages of strong organic bases silicates in the preparation of heat resistant

Cross-linking of soluble silicates with glyoxal silicate-perlite composites

2020
VII ÖZET Optimal jelleşme süresinin tayini için glyosal ile çözünür silikatın çapraz bağlama reaksiyonu yapıldı. Glyosal miktarı değiştirilerek, değişik jelleşme süreleri tayin edildi ve optimal jelleşme süresinin yüzde onluk glyosal ile sağlandığı bulundu.
