Effect of fruit-to-leaf area ratio on fruit quality and vegetative growth of 'bing' sweet cherry trees at optimal leaf area index [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Fruit yield and quality determine grower income from commercial sweet cherry orchards. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of Fruit Number to Leaf Area Ratio (FNLAR, fruit m-2 LA) on Mean Fruit Weight (MFW), firmness (F), soluble ...

Thermophysical Properties of the Desulphurization Slags With Various CaS and CaO/Al2O3 Ratio

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article investigates how CaS content and the CaO/Al2O3 ratio influence the thermophysical properties of desulphurization slags. Using experimental measurements and thermodynamic simulations, this study reveals complex effects on viscosity, surface tension, and density, providing new insight into slag structure and phase behavior under ...

Al–Cu Composite Casting of Laser‐Deoxidized Copper: Bonding, Interfacial Chemistry, and Thermal Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser‐based oxide removal of Cu inserts in oxygen‐free conditions and examines long‐term oxidation kinetics and surface chemistry under different atmospheres via X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Al–Cu compound casting with differently oxidized surfaces is performed, and intermetallic phase formation, morphology, and thermal ...

INFLUENCE OF ROOTSTOCKS AND STORAGE CONDITIONS ON THE QUALITY OF SWEET CHERRY FRUITS ‘REGINA’

open access: yesActa Scientiarum Polonorum: Hortorum Cultus, 2016
Rootstock modifies many fruits features during growth and cropping trees in the orchard. Studies were undertaken to prove the effect of rootstock on the quality of sweet cherry ‘Regina’ fruit before and after storage period.

Investigation of Oxygen‐Free Wetting Behavior of Aluminum on Copper via Molecular Dynamics Simulations and Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The wettability of aluminum droplets (Al) on different copper substrates (Cu), where liquid Al spreads on solid Cu surfaces to form a liquid–solid interface, is studied numerically and experimentally. The experimental and numerical results show good agreement in the fast‐spreading regime.

Cellular structure and related physico-chemical changes during ripening of Musa AAA 'Berangan' [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Ripening is the result of complex changes and it turns an unpalatable fruit to be palatable. The distinct changes in eating quality of ripening fruits are determined by changes in their cellular structure and composition.
