Colorectal Cancer: Epidemiology, Risk Factors, Signaling Pathways, Clinical Features, Screening, Diagnosis, and Management

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
Colorectal cancer is a heterogeneous, adaptive disease shaped by population‐level risk, genomic and epigenetic alterations, tumor ecosystem evolution, and treatment pressure. This review integrates epidemiology, risk factors, signaling networks, clinical presentation, screening, molecular diagnosis, and stage‐ and biomarker‐guided management while ...

Radiotherapy‐Induced Side Effects: Epidemiology, Pathogenesis, Prevention and Treatments

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
Radiotherapy for malignancies frequently injures the organs’ systems through oxidative stress, fibrosis, inflammation, and vascular damage. This review systematically maps the epidemiology, pathogenesis, and emerging therapies to propose a mechanism‑network‑targeted framework for integrated, personalized care in radiation oncology.

Liver Metastases from Colorectal Cancer: From Pathogenesis to Current Treatment

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
The liver is not merely a passive recipient of disseminated tumor cells, but a unique metastatic organ shaped by anatomical, metabolic, and immunological characteristics that support tumor colonization. Increasing evidence indicates that colorectal cancer liver metastasis development is driven by dynamic interactions between tumor intrinsic programs ...

Ineffectiveness of immune checkpoint inhibitors in prostate cancer: is it just a question of ‘‐mabs’?

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, Volume 270, Issue 2, Page 139-162, October 2026.
Abstract Prostate cancer (PCa) is the second most common type of neoplasm, currently treated with a variety of therapeutic agents. Although advances in treatment over the past decade have improved overall survival, patients with advanced PCa eventually progress from hormone‐sensitive PCa to metastatic castration‐resistant PCa.

Extracellular Vesicles From Senescent Cancer Cells Are Necessary and Sufficient to Drive Paracrine Senescence

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 10, October 2026.
Senescent cancer cells exhibit a secretory phenotype, known as SASP, capable of inducing paracrine senescence. However, the main factors within the SASP triggering this process are unknown. Here, we demonstrate that EVs within the SASP are necessary and sufficient to induce paracrine senescence.

Iron, Biofilm, and Colorectal Cancer: Mechanistic Insights Into Enterococcus faecalis Pathogenesis

open access: yesAPMIS, Volume 134, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Enterococcus faecalis is a commensal of the human gastrointestinal microbiota that has emerged as a successful opportunistic pathogen associated with persistent infections, antimicrobial resistance, and biofilm formation. Increasing evidence indicates that iron availability functions as a master environmental signal coordinating E.

Junctional Adhesion Molecule‐A (JAM‐A) Associates With High‐Risk Disease in Multiple Myeloma Patients and a Structure‐Based Rationally‐Designed Peptide Inhibitor Attenuates Tumorigenic Features In Vitro and In Vivo

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Haematology, Volume 117, Issue 4, Page 995-1006, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Multiple myeloma (MM) is an incurable malignancy of terminally‐differentiated plasma cells that represents a major clinical challenge despite unprecedented therapeutic advances, particularly for patients with cytogenetically‐defined high‐risk MM (HR‐MM).

Diagnostic and prognostic values of soluble suppression of tumorigenicity-2 measurements in the treatment assessment of adult patients with congenital heart disease and cardiac failure

open access: yes, 2020
Background: The standard heart failure treatment in adult patients with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) is a challenging issue. Biomarkers, such as N-Terminal pro-B-type Natriuretic Peptide (NT-proBNP), have been used, but soluble Suppression of ...
