Growth of Nb3Sn crystals by top seeded solution growth

Journal of Crystal Growth, 1983
Abstract Nb 3 Sn crystals were grown by top seeded solution growth using the oscillating temperature technique. The maximum size obtained on the seed (Nb wire) was about 0.5×0.3×1 mm 3 after a 6 day run. The surface microtopograph was examined using differential interference and/or phase-contrast microscopy.

Nucleation-trap crystallizer for growth of crystals from solutions

Journal of Crystal Growth, 2006
Stability of the solution against spurious nucleation plays a dominant role in the growth of crystals at high growth rates requiring high levels of supersaturation. If any spurious nucleation does occur during a growth run, it becomes practically impossible to grow a very large crystal.

Simple, low-cost reciprocating crystallizer for solution crystal growth

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1983
A simple, low-cost reciprocating crystallizer for crystal growth from aqueous solution has been described. The main feature of this crystallizer is its simple automatic switching arrangement for reciprocating motion.

Ice Crystal Growth in Aqueous Solutions

1987
Causes and mechanisms of cryo-injury are generally multifacetted and may be of thermal, mechanical, chemical and electrical nature. For understanding the effects of ice formation on biological cells it is necessary to first obtain an exact knowledge of the ice formation process itself.

The growth of crystals in solution

Advances in Colloid and Interface Science, 1979
Abstract The crystallization of sparingly soluble salts from their aqueous supersaturated solutions is discussed from the standpoint of two important applications; scale formation and biological mineralization. Theories of crystal growth are outlined and the importance of kinetic factors in determining the nature of the growing phases is discussed ...

Needle-crystal solution in three-dimensional dendritic growth

Physical Review Letters, 1993
The whole needle-crystal solution for three-dimensional (3D) dendritic growth is described analytically. Its construction involves the existing 3D selection theory for the tip of the dendrite (M. Ben Amar and E. A. Brener [Phys. Rev. Lett. 71, 589 (1993]) plus matching of the tail to this tip. This is exhibited here.

Crystal Growth from Non Aqueous Solutions

1982
Growth from non aqueous solutions often allows realization of special crystallization aims by control of the solution properties. Solvents are classified to further understand the solubility of electrolytes and non electrolytes. Several solvent and solubility effects are then pointed out such as the effect on the nucleation, which is easier when ...
