“The Thermal Wave” in Technology of Crystal Growth from the Melt [PDF]

open access: yesЖурнал нано- та електронної фізики, 2013
It was found that the temperature fluctuations at the interface crystal-melt are the main reason for the formation of single crystals inhomogeneity grown by the Czochralski method.

The Effect of the Shear Flow on Columnar Crystal Growth in an Undercooled Melt

open access: yesMetals, 2022
Herein, the effect of the shear flow on the growth of columnar crystals in an undercooled melt is studied. The asymptotic method is used to solve the dynamic model for the growth of a columnar crystal.

Growth of LiNb1−xTaxO3 solid solution crystals

open access: yesMaterials Chemistry and Physics, 2012
Abstract The growth of single crystals of solid solutions of LiNbO3 and LiTaO3 has been studied by using a number of different techniques: Czochralski pulling, Top-Seeded Solution Growth, flux growth from LiBO2 and LiVO3, and by optical floating zone. Crystals with homogenous Li, Ta and Nb compositions were obtained by several techniques. Analysis of

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...
