Improvements to the APBS biomolecular solvation software suite [PDF]
The Adaptive Poisson-Boltzmann Solver (APBS) software was developed to solve the equations of continuum electrostatics for large biomolecular assemblages that has provided impact in the study of a broad range of chemical, biological, and biomedical ...

Cyclolinopeptide A methanol solvate [PDF]
Crystals of the title compound, C(57)H(85)N(9)O(9)·CH(4)O, the methanol solvate of a nine peptide polypeptide, cyclo-(Pro-Pro-Phe-Phe-Leu-Ile-Ile-Leu-Val), were obtained after separation of the cyclic peptide from flax oil. The cyclo-linopeptide A (CLP-A) mol-ecules are linked in chains along the a axis by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

ABSTRACT Introduction Pre‐dilution online hemodiafiltration (Pre‐HDF) is predominantly used in Japan, whereas post‐dilution online HDF (Post‐HDF) is more common in Europe. An asymmetric cellulose triacetate (ATA) membrane may improve biocompatibility.

ABSTRACT Introduction Bloodstream infections due to repeated vascular access (VA) puncture and circuit connections remain major concerns in hemodialysis. Therefore, we examined current practices for glove, disinfectant, and personal protective equipment (PPE) use according to VA type in national university hospitals in Japan.

Theoretical Study of Solvent Effects on the Platinum-Catalyzed Oxygen Reduction Reaction [PDF]
We report here density functional theory (DFT) studies (PBE) of the reaction intermediates and barriers involved in the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) on a platinum fuel cell catalyst.

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Effect of collagen-induced residual stress on the frictional property of articular cartilage
Previous findings, such as split-line of the articular cartilage surface and curving of sliced cartilage specimen, would suggest that residual stress is contained in articular cartilage.

Ab initio molecular dynamics simulations of Aluminum solvation
The solvation of Al and its hydrolyzed species in water clusters has been studied by means of ab initio molecular dynamics simulations. The hexa-hydrate aluminum ion formed a stable complex in the finite temperature cluster simulation of one aluminum ion
