Description of fish bioconcentration factors in terms of solvatochromic parameters
Chemosphere, 1990Abstract The application of linear solvation energy relationships containing solvatochromic parameters to the description of fish bioconcentration factors for chlorinated hydrocarbons is investigated. Results indicate that, in contrast to solvents such as water and 1-octanol, cavity formation energy is a non-linear function of solute molecular volume

Solvatochromic Polarity Parameters of Carbon Dioxide in Suband Supercritical State

Kamlet−Taft Solvatochromic Parameters of the Sub- and Supercritical Fluorinated Ethane Solvents
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 1998The Kamlet−Taft parameters describing the dipolarity-polarizability, π*, and hydrogen bond acceptor ability, β, for ethane and six fluorinated ethane solvents in the sub- and supercritical region of the phase diagram were measured using solvatochromic probe molecules.

Formation of a hydrogen bond between molecules of a proton donor (phenol, pyrrole, N-methylanilines) and a solvent decreases the sensitivity of the XH stretching frequency to the polarity/polarizability of solvents. A change in the bond configuration in the amine moiety of N-methylaniline and related compounds upon formation of a solvation H complex is

Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationships, 1990
AbstractThe polarizability αvol, the solvatochromic parameters π* and β and the lipophilicity as expressed by log Kow are subjected to regression analyses using calculated molecular parameters within the MNDO scheme. The resulting linear one‐ and more‐variable regression equations enable rapid approximate calculations for αvol, π* and β and log Kow of ...

Solvatochromic Shift of Phthalocyanine Q-band Governed by a Single Solvent Parameter
Chemistry Letters, 2004Abstract Position of the main optical absorption band (Q-band) in electronic spectra of some trans-[M(Pc)L2]k (Pc = substituted or unsubstituted phthalocyaninate, M = Co(III), L = CN−, k = −1; M = Sn(IV), L = Cl−, k = 0; M = Sb(V), L = Cl−, k = +1) complexes depends only on the refractive index of the solvents, indicating that ...

Abstract The behaviour of water-dioxane mixtures as solvents is studied paying special attention to the correlations which may exist among the solvatochromic parameters of these mixtures, as well as to the correlations among some of these parameters and the acid-base properties of model solutes (whose acidity constants are determined).

A new class of red emitting extensively conjugated donor-π-acceptor type dyes bearing coumarin units have been synthesized by condensation of 7-(diethylamino)-2-oxo-2 H-chromene-3-carbaldehyde with different active methylenes. All the dyes are characterized by (1)H NMR, (13)C NMR and HRMS spectroscopy.

The solvatochromism of dihydroxybenzene derivatives as probes in 18 solvents were investigated in the UV-vis spectra. The position, intensity and shape of absorption bands change with various solvent nature. These changes were rationalized by solvatochromic parameters such as alpha, beta, ET(30), DN and AN using multiple linear regression (MLR) method.
