Twist and Shine: The Impact of Halogen Substitution on Thiele Hydrocarbon's Optical Properties
Halogenation in Thiele hydrocarbons strongly influences structure and excited‐state dynamics. Depending on substitution, “boat” folded forms show large Stokes shifts and strong solvatochromism, while planar “butterfly” derivatives exhibit near‐unity photoluminescence yields.

Primer to Voltage Imaging With ANNINE Dyes and Two-Photon Microscopy
ANNINE-6 and ANNINE-6plus are voltage-sensitive dyes that when combined with two-photon microscopy are ideal for recording of neuronal voltages in vivo, in both bulk loaded tissue and the dendrites of single neurons. Here, we describe in detail but for a

Preferential solvation of 4-(4-nitrophenylazo) aniline in alcohol-dioxane binary solvent mixture [PDF]
Electronic spectroscopy is a suitable method for studying solvation. It has been observed that maximum energy of electronic transition of various solutes depends to a great extent on the local environment around the solute.

Synthesis, electrochemical and spectroscopic properties of molybdenum complexes bearing 5-alkoxy-thiophenic or- bithiophenic groups [PDF]
Trans-[FMo{NN=CH(5´-R-thienyl)}(dppe)2][BF4] (R = OMe and OEt) and trans[FMo{NN=CH(5’-R-2,2’-bithienyl)}(dppe)2][BF4] (R = OMe, OEt and O(iPr)) were synthesised in good yields by reacting 2-formyl-5-alkoxylthiophenes and 5-formyl-5 ...

Nitrogen–boron–nitrogen (NBN)‐substituted molecular propellers are presented as structural framework for aggregation induced emission (AIE) applications. Steric hindrance is revealed to steer maximum‐AIE behavior, leading to refined control over assembly‐induced luminescence.

Novel emissive liquid crystalline boron C,N‐chelates were prepared by integrating mesogenic units into the boron C,N‐core. Depending on the substituent at the boron, stable SmA or N mesophases were achieved while maintaining intense blue emission with excellent quantum yields (61%–100%).

An interpretation of fluctuations in enzyme catalysis rate, spectral diffusion, and radiative component of lifetimes in terms of electric field fluctuations [PDF]
Time-dependent fluctuations in the catalysis rate ({delta}k(t)) observed in single-enzyme experiments were found in a particular study to have an autocorrelation function decaying on the same time scale as that of spectral diffusion {delta}{omega}0(t ...

T‐Shaped 8‐Aryl(ethynyl)‐Substituted Psoralens With Tunable Charge‐Transfer Absorption
Starting from 8‐methoxypsoralen, new 8‐arylated and 8‐alkynylated psoralen derivatives are accessible by cross‐coupling. These T‐shaped π‐expanded chromophores are luminescent and photophysics reveal a highly polar excited state with tunable charge‐transfer character.
