Push–pull substitution activates fluorescence in the weakly emissive phenazine scaffold, producing photostable green‐to‐red emitters via a one‐step annulation. A systematic comparison of positional isomers reveals that the Etter‐rule‐directed hydrogen‐bonding patterns modulate the emission wavelength and crystal packing, while the molecular symmetry ...

A computationally-derived model for the solvatochromism of p-phenolates with high predictive power
We report that the positive, reverse or negative solvatochromism of p-phenolate-based dyes is highly correlated with the multireferential (MR) character of their ground-state wave function, with negative compounds presenting the highest degeneracy.

Evaluation of Photophysical Properties and Biological Applications of Diarylmethanes
The wide applications of diarylmethanes were investigated through various experimental and computational approaches. The solvent environment influences the electronic properties of diarylmethanes and hence their drug‐like properties. Interactions with PARP1 revealed stable binding supporting anticancer potential.

A fluorescent photochromic diarylethene based on naphthalic anhydride with strong solvatochromism
A diarylethene molecule consisting of an 1,8-naphthalic anhydride and two 2,5 dimethylthiophene which exhibits reversible fluorescence switching capacity as well as solvatochromism with red shift of the fluorescence maximum by more than 150 nm.

Aggregation‐induced emission luminogens (AIEgens) are typically large π‐conjugated molecules, but their low affinity and noninvasiveness toward analytes limit practical applications. To address this, smaller, more planar AIEgens are needed.

Theoretical computation of Betain B30 solvatochromism using a Polarizable Continuum Model
We report in this paper the computation of optical properties of a solvatochromic probe using Time-Dependent Density Functional Theory methodology. Our protocol includes the use of an implicit solvent model to take into account the surrounding effects on
