Processing for maximizing the level of crystallinity in linear aromatic polyimides [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
The process of the present invention includes first treating a polyamide acid (such as LARC-TPI polyamide acid) in an amide-containing solvent (such as N-methyl pyrrolidone) with an aprotic organic base (such as triethylamine), followed by dehydrating ...

Synthetic Nanobiology Actuated Lipometabolic Cell Factory for Autologous Tumor Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
FA plays a crucial role in the interaction between tumor cells and the tumor microenvironment, especially for the immune response. A biocatalytic immunoenhancement strategy is developed to boost antitumor immunity by FA metabolic orientation to ceramide. Through the design of this delicate catalytic immunoenhancement strategy, the synthetic nanobiology

Bio‐Orthogonally Crosslinked Supramolecular Polymer Bottlebrush Hydrogels for Long‐Term 3D Cell Culture

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fibrous benzenetrispeptide (BTP) hydrogels, fabricated via strain‐promoted azide‐alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC) crosslinking, form robust, bioinert networks. These hydrogels can support 3D cell culture, where cell viability and colony growth depend on the fiber content.

A novel integrated simulation approach for natural gas sweetening and dehydration: H2S, CO2, and H2O removal with energy optimization using Aspen HYSYS

open access: yesResults in Engineering
Natural gas has emerged as the predominant energy source globally. However, raw natural gas typically contains impurities such as hydrogen sulfide (H2S), carbon dioxide (CO2), and water (H2O), necessitating treatment prior to pipeline delivery. This work

Role of Histidine‐Containing Peptoids in Accelerating the Kinetics of Calcite Growth

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Amphiphilic histidine‐containing peptoids mimic carbonic anhydrase (CA) to accelerate calcite step growth. In the presence of Zn2+, they promote the deprotonation of HCO3−, the desolvation of Ca2+, and the reorganization of interfacial hydration layers, thereby reducing the activation barrier for calcite growth.

Ionic‐Electronic Hydrogel‐Liquid Metal Composite Bilayer with Tissue‐Adaptive and Adhesive Properties for Closed‐Loop Neuroprosthetic System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hydrogel–liquid metal composite peripheral nerve interface (HLB‐PNI) combines electrically durable electrodes and tissue‐adhesive hydrogel for tissue‐adaptive implantation. In nerve‐injured rats, it enables the diagnosis of sensory‐motor connectivity via stimulation and neural signal recording.

Environment-Oriented Assessment of Hybrid Methods for Separation of N-Propanol–Water Mixtures: Combination of Distillation and Hydrophilic Pervaporation Processes

open access: yesMembranes
This study presents a novel approach to the dehydration of n-propanol using three hybrid methods—D + HPV, D + HPV + D, and D + HPV + D with heat integration—each combining distillation (D) and hydrophilic pervaporation (HPV) without the use of additional

Segregation in desiccated sessile drops of biological fluids

open access: yes, 2006
It is shown here that concurrence between advection and diffusion in a drying sessile drop of a biological fluid can produce spatial redistribution of albumen and salt.
