The Effects of Bone Chips Dehydrated with Solvent on Healing Bone Defects

open access: yesJournal of International Medical Research, 2002
The effect of bone chips dehydrated with solvent on the healing of bone defects was evaluated. Solvent-dehydrated spongiose bone chips were placed in experimentally formed cavities in the right back tibia of rabbits. After 10, 20 and 30 days, histopathological cross-sections from the bone grafts were examined microscopically for bone healing and ...

Catalytic Transformation of Fructose and Sucrose to HMF with Proline-Derived Ionic Liquids under Mild Conditions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2014
L-Proline derived ionic liquids (ILs) used as both solvent and catalyst were efficient for transformation of fructose and sucrose to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) in the presence of water.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Biphasic Dehydration of Sugars to 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural and Furfural—Multiscale Modeling for Easier Optimization and More Accurate Solvent Selection

open access: yes, 2022
An integrated and multiscale modeling framework is introduced to accurately model the biphasic dehydration of a mixed carbohydrate feed from typical lignocellulosic waste biomass to form 5-hydroxymethylfurfural and furfural.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Enhanced Furfural Production in Deep Eutectic Solvents Comprising Alkali Metal Halides as Additives

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
The addition of alkali metal halide salts to acidic deep eutectic solvents is here reported as an effective way of boosting xylan conversion into furfural.

Dehydration of solvent extract containing saccharides by bervaporation.

open access: yesmembrane, 1993
A study was carried out on the removal of water in ethanol-water mixtures containing maltose or glucose by pervaporation using polyimide hollow fiber membrane under various conditions for the purpose of saccharides crystallization. The membrane separation performance (permeation flux and separation factor) were influenced by operation conditions ...
