Solvent effects on Grubbs’ pre-catalyst initiation rates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Initiation rates for Grubbs and Grubbs-Hoveyda second generation pre-catalysts have been measured accurately in a range of solvents. Solvatochromic fitting reveals different dependencies on key solvent parameters for the two pre-catalysts, consistent ...

Solvent–Solvent Correlations across Graphene: The Effect of Image Charges

open access: yesACS Nano, 2020
Wetting experiments show pure graphene to be weakly hydrophilic, but its contact angle (CA) also reflects the character of the supporting material. Measurements and molecular dynamics simulations on suspended and supported graphene often reveal a CA reduction due to the presence of the supporting substrate.

Preferences of Pediatric Patients and Their Caregivers for Chemotherapy‐Induced Nausea and Vomiting Control Endpoints: A Mixed Methods Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Although not always achieved, complete chemotherapy‐induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) control is the conventional goal of CINV prophylaxis. In this two‐center, mixed‐methods study, we sought to understand the preferences of adolescent patients and family caregivers for CINV control endpoints.

The Role of the Concentration Scale in the Definition of Transfer Free Energies

open access: yes, 2014
The Gibbs free energy of transferring a solute at infinite dilution between two solvents quantifies differences in solute-solvent interactions $-$ if the transfer takes place at constant molarity of the solute.

Intravitreal GD2‐Specific Chimeric Antigen Receptor T‐Cell Therapy for Refractory Retinoblastoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Effective treatments for advanced, treatment‐resistant retinoblastoma (RB) remain limited. GD2‐specific chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells show potent antitumor activity with minimal toxicity but have not previously been evaluated in RB.

Generalized model for the diffusion of solvents in glassy polymers: From Fickian to super Case II

open access: yes, 2017
The diffusion of small solvent molecules in glassy polymers may take on a variety of different forms. Fickian, anomalous, Case II, and super Case II diffusion have all been observed, and theoretical models exist that describe each specific type of ...

Outcomes of Live Virus Vaccination in Patients With Vascular Anomalies Being Treated With Sirolimus

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Live vaccination in patients with vascular anomalies (VA) receiving sirolimus remains controversial due to immunosuppressive effects and theoretical risks. Procedure This single‐center retrospective study included patients with VA less than 4 years old at the start of sirolimus therapy who were incompletely vaccinated.

Slow energy relaxation of macromolecules and nano-clusters in solution

open access: yes, 2005
Many systems in the realm of nanophysics from both the living and inorganic world display slow relaxation kinetics of energy fluctuations. In this paper we propose a general explanation for such phenomenon, based on the effects of interactions with the ...

Pediatric Oncology Nursing Competencies in Latin America and the Caribbean: A Scoping Review to Inform Practice, Education, and Research

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Nurses are central to cancer care for children and adolescents, yet no comprehensive synthesis has defined essential core competencies for pediatric oncology nursing (PON) practice internationally, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).
