Geographic variation in walking activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study examined whether there is geographic variation in field populations, focusing on the moving activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum. Results showed significant differences in moving activity among field populations but no correlation with latitude or meteorological factors.

Dissolution Dynamics of a Binary Switchable Hydrophilicty Solvent -- Polymer Drop into an Acidic Aqueous Phase [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Switchable hydrophilicity solvents (SHSs) are solvents defined by their ability to switch from their hydrophobic form to a hydrophilic form when put in contact with an acidic trigger such as $CO_2$. As a consequence, SHSs qualify as promising alternatives to volatile organic compounds during the industrial solvent extraction processes, as greener and ...

Optimizing the Extraction of Procyanidins Oligomers through Decamer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The extraction of procyanidins from a food is influenced by food matrix, extraction solvent, sample particle size, sample to solvent ratio, as well as other factors.

Dendritic cells steering antigen and leukocyte traffic in lymph nodes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Dendritic cells are key players in the activation of T cells and their commitment to effector function. In this In a Nutshell Review, we will discuss how dendritic cells guide the trafficking of antigen and leukocytes in the lymph node, thus influencing T‐cell activation processes. Dendritic cells (DCs) play a central role in initiating and shaping the

Green solvents, potential alternatives for petroleum based products in food processing industries

open access: yesCleaner Chemical Engineering, 2022
Solvent extraction is used at the industrial scale for extraction of oil, flavouring and functional compounds from the source materials. Easy availability at lower price makes petroleum based solvents (e.g., hexane, petroleum ether, etc.) the preferred ...

Comparison of extraction methods for analysis of flavonoids in onions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Onions are known to contain high levels of flavonoids and a comparison of the efficiency, reproducibility and detection limits of various extraction methods has been made in order to develop fast and reliable analytical methods for analysis of flavonoids

The dual nature of TDC – bridging dendritic and T cells in immunity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
TDC are hematopoietic cells combining dendritic and T cell features. They reach secondary lymphoid organs (SLOs) and peripheral organs (liver and lungs) after FLT3‐dependent development in the bone marrow and maturation in the thymus. TDC are activated and enriched in SLOs upon viral infection, suggesting that they might play unique immune roles, since

Study on the Ultrasonic-Assisted Extraction Process of Anthocyanin from Purple Cabbage with Deep Eutectic Solvent

open access: yesMolecules
In this paper, purple cabbage was used as raw material for ultrasonic-assisted extraction of anthocyanin with deep eutectic solvent. The effects of extraction solvent type, solid–liquid ratio, moisture, extraction temperature, and time on the yield of ...

FoxO1 signaling in B cell malignancies and its therapeutic targeting

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FoxO1 has context‐specific tumor suppressor or oncogenic character in myeloid and B cell malignancies. This includes tumor‐promoting properties such as stemness maintenance and DNA damage tolerance in acute leukemias, or regulation of cell proliferation and survival, or migration in mature B cell malignancies.
