Solvent reorganization of electron transitions in viscous solvents

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2006
We develop a model of electron transfer reactions at conditions of nonergodicity when the time of solvent relaxation crosses the observation time window set up by the reaction rate. Solvent reorganization energy of intramolecular electron transfer in a charge-transfer molecule dissolved in water and acetonitrile is studied by molecular dynamics ...

“Freon” as a solvent

AORN Journal, 1971
There has been a relative neglect in removing Ether from many operating rooms. This neglect is highlighted because of its obvious importance as an explosion hazard. The statistical frequency of explosions in the operating room remgins at l/lSO,OOo onesthestio.' In the light of present technics and knowledge this number should be even lower, and we as ...

Deep Eutectic Solvents as Efficient Solvents in Biocatalysis

Trends in Biotechnology, 2019
'Ideal' solvents in biocatalysis have to fulfill a large number of requirements, such as high substrate solubility, high enzyme activity and stability, and positive effects on reaction equilibrium. In the past decades, many enzymatic synthesis routes in water-based and nonaqueous (organic solvents, ionic or supercritical fluids) reaction media have ...

In Situ Solvent Recovery by Organic Solvent Nanofiltration

ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering, 2014
Reducing solvent consumption in the chemical industries is increasingly becoming a topic of interest. The field of organic solvent nanofiltration (OSN) has markedly evolved in the past decade, and effective membranes are now available that can withstand aggressive solvents while completely rejecting small solutes at the lower end of the nanofiltration ...

Comments concerning “Study of solute–solvent and solvent–solvent interactions in pure and mixed binary solvents”

Journal of Molecular Liquids, 2008
A number of mathematical equations representing the solute solubility in monosolvent and binary solvent mixtures are discussed. This work is a commentary to the article of Maitra and Baghchi that appeared in this journal.

Chlorinated Solvents and Solvent Stabilizers

2020
This chapter deals with the stabilizers for the chlorinated solvents, which were by far the most frequently used solvents for degreasing, dry cleaning, cold cleaning, and dozens of other industrial applications. 1,4-Dioxane, a probable human carcinogen, has manifested as the most significant drinking water and environmental contaminant among the dozens

Solvent-Dependent Changes in Molecular Reorientation Dynamics: The Role of Solvent−Solvent Interactions

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2010
We report on the rotational diffusion dynamics of two different chromophores, resorufin and 6-(N-(7-nitrobenz-2-oxa-1,3-diazol-4-yl)amino)hexanoic acid (NBDHA) in water and N-octyl-2-pyrrolidone (NOP) solvents. We measure the induced orientational anisotropy function, R(t), using time-correlated single photon counting.

Solvent Form

2018
Solvent form examines the destruction of art—through objects that have been destroyed (lost in fires, floods, vandalism, or similarly those artists that actively court or represent this destruction, such as Gustav Metzger), but also as a process within art that the object courts through form.

Occupational neurotoxicology of organic solvents and solvent mixtures

Neurotoxicology and Teratology, 1989
The results of two field studies in painters and spray painters, the outcomes of examinations of workers with suspected work-related disease due to solvents, as well as data from an evaluation of an epidemiologic study in painters with confirmed occupational disease, are presented and discussed.
