Nerve agents: A clear and present danger to mankind [PDF]
This editorial is written on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the infamous sarin and VX terrorist attacks in Japan, in order to increase the awareness of the potential terrorist use of nerve agents and to urge the preparedness to cope with its ...

Wafer‐scale two‐dimensioanl In2Se3 oxidized into InOx on sodium‐embedded beta‐alumina enables multifunctional reconfigurable electronics. Sodium ions accumulate within distinct spatial distribution under drain‐controlle and gate‐controlled operation. Drain‐control operation gives controllability of ultraviolet‐driven optoelectronic synaptic conductance

Spin and Charge Control of Topological End States in Chiral Graphene Nanoribbons on a 2D Ferromagnet
Chiral graphene nanoribbons on a ferromagnetic gadolinium‐gold surface alloy display tunable spin and charge states at their termini. Atomic work function variations and exchange fields enabe transitions between singlet, doublet, and triplet configurations.

Magnetic doping of the topological insulator Bi2Te3 with erbium adatoms induces out‐of‐plane magnetism and breaks time‐reversal symmetry, opening a Dirac gap and driving a Fermi surface transition from hexagonal to star‐of‐David geometry. Microscopy, spectroscopy, and magnetic dichroism reveal atomically controlled magnetic interactions that tailor the

Effectiveness of pyridostigmine in reversing neuromuscular blockade produced by soman
The effects of pyridostigmine pretreatment on the neuromuscular blockade produced by soman in anaesthetized, atropinized animals have been studied on the soleus and anterior tibialis muscle (rhesus monkeys, cats and rabbits) and the gastrocnemius muscle (

The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.

Self‐Cooling Molecular Spin Qudits
A material made of [GdEr] molecular dimers can encode a qudit and perform as a magnetic refrigerant. Microwave resonant pulses coherently manipulate its 16 spin states, while direct demagnetization measurements cool the material and a device down to temperatures below 1 K.

Influence of pinacolyl dimethylphosphinate on soman storage in rats
Atropinized rats pretreated with pinacolyl dimethylphosphinate (PDP) or saline were intoxicated with 6 x LD50 soman and, after 30 and 60 min, the absolute amounts of soman in diaphragms and lungs were measured gas chromatographically.
