Somatostatin Receptor 2 Expression in Canine Meningioma
Journal of Comparative Pathology, 2019The neuropeptide somatostatin (SST) plays an important regulatory role in the proliferation of normal and neoplastic cells. Five subtypes of somatostatin receptors (SSTRs), SSTR1-SSTR5, have been identified in human tumours. The SSTR2 subtype is identified most commonly in meningiomas.

Small molecule somatostatin receptor subtype-2 antagonists
Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2001The first potent small molecule sst2 antagonists are reported. Altering known sst2 agonist molecules yielded compounds with high sst2 binding affinity and full antagonist activity. Compound 7a, for example, displaced somatostatin binding to the sst2 receptor with an IC(50)=2.9 nM and antagonized somatostatin action with an IC(50)=29nM.

High-throughput receptor-binding methods for somatostatin receptor 2
Analytical Biochemistry, 2002Three high-throughput screening methods for quantitating 125I-SS14 binding to human somatostatin receptor 2 (hSST2) have been developed. Microplate-based separation assays were performed in Packard Unifilter and Millipore Multiscreen plates. A homogeneous ligand-binding assay was developed by employing wheat germ agglutinin (WGA)-coated Flashplates ...

Suppression of ANP secretion by somatostatin through somatostatin receptor type 2
Peptides, 2011Somatostatin is a cyclic-14 amino acid peptide which mainly distributed in digestive system and brain. Somatostatin receptor (SSTR) is a G-protein coupled receptor and all five SSTR subtypes are expressed in cardiomyocytes. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of somatostatin on atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) secretion and its ...

Evidence for Somatostatin receptor 2 in thyroid tissue
Regulatory Peptides, 2007Somatostatin receptor scintigraphy has found considerable interest for imaging thyroid tumours. Recently, also therapeutic application of Somatostatin analogues labelled with beta-emitting radionuclides has been suggested as treatment option for thyroid tumours with absent radioiodine uptake.

2. Somatostatin and dopamine receptors
Tumori Journal, 2010The discovery of the new properties of SSRs and DRs has led to a renewed interest in agents targeting these receptors and has opened new perspectives for medical treatment of patients with pituitary and neuroendocrine tumors resistant to the “classical”, currently available analogs.
