The Songliao Super Basin in northeastern China

AAPG Bulletin, 2023
Abstract With several superimposed petroleum systems and a proven reserve of 200 billion bbl of oil and 160 TCF of gas, the Songliao Basin in northeastern China is considered a super petroliferous basin. This paper outlines the basin’s tectonic units, its tectono-stratigraphy, and the essential elements of each petroleum system and ...

Sedimentary Characteristics of the Cretaceous in the Songliao Basin

Acta Geologica Sinica - English Edition, 1993
Abstract The rupture of the lithosphere in Late Jurassic brought about the eruption of basaltic magma in the Songliao Basin. The evolution of the basin in Cretaceous progressed through six stages: pre‐rift doming, extensional fracturing, fault subsidence, fault downwarping, downwarping and shringkage, resulting in the deposition of terrstrial facies ...

Chronological and Geochemical Characterisitics of Volcanic Rocks of the Yingcheng Formation in the Southern Songliao Basin: Constraints on the Early Cretaceous Evolution of the Songliao Basin

Acta Geologica Sinica - English Edition, 2020
AbstractThe discoveries of oil and gas reservoirs in the volcanic rocks of the Songliao Basin (SB) have attracted the attention of many researchers. However, the lack of studies on the genesis of the volcanic rocks has led to different opinions being presented for the genesis of the SB.

Late Cretaceous paleoclimate and paleoenvironment in the Songliao Basin, China

Journal of Paleolimnology, 2021
The Songliao Basin, northeast China, possesses an excellent Cretaceous lake sediment record that provides an opportunity to investigate Cretaceous terrestrial climate and environmental conditions. We measured total organic matter (TOC), aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, marine biomarkers and δ13C and δD compositions of individual n-alkanes in ...

Chronostratigraphy and Stratigraphic Classification of the Cretaceous of the Songliao Basin

Acta Geologica Sinica - English Edition, 1996
Abstract Isotopic ages of synsedimentary clay minerals were directly determined with the ultrasonic scattering—settlement separation—K—Ar dilution technique. The apparent age of black mudstone is 123 Ma for the Quantou Formation, 111.9—89.0 Ma for the Qingshankou Formation and 77.6—76.8 Ma for the upper part of the Nenjiang Formation.
