Seismic detection of sonic booms [PDF]
The pressure signals from a sonic boom will produce a small, but detectable, ground motion. The extensive seismic network in southern California, consisting of over 200 sites covering over 50 000 square kilometers, is used to map primary and secondary sonic boom carpets.

Improving low-frequency response of sonic boom measurements through digital filtering.
High-fidelity measurement of sonic boom waveforms requires microphones and data acquisition hardware with flat frequency responses extending below 1 Hz. Hardware limitations can pose challenges meeting these requirements.

Sonic boom reflection over urban areas.
Sonic boom propagation over urban areas is studied using numerical simulations based on the Euler equations. Two boom waves are examined: a classical N-wave and a low-boom wave.

Sonic boom reflection over an isolated building and multiple buildings.
Sonic boom reflection is investigated over an isolated building and multiple buildings using numerical simulations. For that, the two-dimensional Euler equations are solved using high-order finite-difference techniques.

To the issue of evaluating sonic boom overpressure and loudness [PDF]
At present, in the world there is a growing interest in the development of a new generation of supersonic passenger aircraft. One of the main problems of creating such aircraft is to ensure both an acceptable sonic boom level and high aerodynamic ...

Conceptual design of sonic boom stealth supersonic transports
This paper introduces a supersonic transport aircraft design model developed in the GENUS aircraft conceptual design environment. A conceptual design model appropriate to supersonic transports with low-to-medium-fidelity methods are developed in GENUS ...

Initial comparison of a Falcon-9 reentry sonic boom with other launch-related noise
A downside of landing first-stage boosters of orbital-class launch vehicles, such as the Falcon 9, is the sonic boom associated with reentry and landing. To assess the potential impact of these sonic booms and compare them to launch and landing operations,

Deep learning for inverse design of low-boom supersonic configurations
Mitigating the sonic boom to an acceptable stage is crucial for the next generation of supersonic transports. The primary way to suppress sonic booms is to develop a low sonic boom aerodynamic shape design.

Hierarchical optimization method of supersonic low sonic boom configuration
Sonic boom suppression is a key technology that must be broken through in the development of a new generation of supersonic civil aircraft. The reasonable design of configuration parameters can make the aircraft have good sonic boom characteristics.
