Ultra-ductile and low friction epoxy matrix composites

open access: yes, 2015
We present the results of an effective reinforcement of epoxy resin matrix with fullerene carbon soot. The optimal carbon soot addition of 1 wt. % results in a toughness improvement of almost 20 times.

Multiobjective Optimization of Hydrogen‐Assisted Calophyllum inophyllum Biodiesel Operation in a Compression Ignition Engine

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Tri‐fuel diesel–Calophyllum inophyllum biodiesel–hydrogen operation was tested over 96 points in a diesel engine. Eight performance and emission metrics feed a preference‐agnostic Bootstrapped Empirical Multiobjective Ranking and Selection methodology, revealing load‐blend‐hydrogen windows that increase efficiency, restrain smoke, and expose NOx trade ...

Trends in Ocean S‐Isotopes May Be Influenced by Major LIP Events

open access: yesGeophysical Monograph Series, Page 341-376., 2021

Exploring the links between Large Igneous Provinces and dramatic environmental impact

An emerging consensus suggests that Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs) and Silicic LIPs (SLIPs) are a significant driver of dramatic global environmental and biological changes, including mass extinctions.

Atmospheric ice nuclei in the Eyjafjallajökull volcanic ash plume [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We have sampled atmospheric ice nuclei (IN) and aerosol in Germany and in Israel during spring 2010. IN were analyzed by the static vapor diffusion chamber FRIDGE, as well as by electron microscopy.

Forced Draught Impact on Externally Venting Flames: An Experimental and Numerical Investigation

open access: yesFire and Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Wind can significantly influence fire development and spread in urban and forest environments causing fatal consequences for the public, the first responders, and the environment. Wind‐driven fires can have a significant impact on structural fires as wind can increase the fire's intensity, development, and flame spread.

Experimental and Numerical Investigation of Cedar Façade Flame Spread With Respect to Sidewall

open access: yesFire and Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In response to growing energy conservation and carbon neutrality efforts, façade systems incorporating wooden materials have attracted increasing attention, which in turn raises concerns about their combustibility. This study presents a combined experimental and numerical investigation of flame spread along cedar façades.

Minimum Particle Size for Cyclone Dust Separator [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Perkins technology wish to separate small soot particles from exhaust gases, and the question posed to the study group was to determine the feasibility of using a cyclone separator to remove these particles.

An Experimental Investigation on the Impact of Burner Height and Location on the Characteristics of Externally Venting Flames

open access: yesFire and Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Fire sources in actual compartment fires exhibit a predominantly uneven spatial distribution. In this context, the impact of the height and location of the fire source, as well as the heat release rate (HRR) of the fire, on the thermal characteristics of Externally Venting Flames (EVF) is experimentally investigated.

Comparative Study of Different Methods for Soot Sensing and Filter Monitoring in Diesel Exhausts

open access: yesSensors, 2017
Due to increasingly tighter emission limits for diesel and gasoline engines, especially concerning particulate matter emissions, particulate filters are becoming indispensable devices for exhaust gas after treatment.
