The paradox of cancer genes in non-malignant conditions: implications for precision medicine. [PDF]
Next-generation sequencing has enabled patient selection for targeted drugs, some of which have shown remarkable efficacy in cancers that have the cognate molecular signatures.

Relationship and predictive role of the dual expression of FGFR and IL-8 in metastatic renal cell carcinoma treated with targeted agents [PDF]
Background/Aim: The expression of IL-8 and FGFR has been related to prognosis and pathological features in renal cell carcinoma. We investigated the relationship between IL-8 and FGFR and the outcome in metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) patients ...

ABSTRACT Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) represents a significant global health issue, with the PD‐1/PD‐L1 axis serving a pivotal target for immunotherapy in this malignancy. However, a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of PD‐1/PD‐L1 research in HCC is lacking.

Inhibition of pMAPK14 Overcomes Resistance to Sorafenib in Hepatoma Cells with Hepatitis B Virus
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) targets the liver and is a major driver for liver cancer. Clinical data suggest that HBV infection is associated with reduced response to treatment with the multi-kinase inhibitor sorafenib, the first available molecularly ...

Living in interesting times - Challenging protein metabolism in the era of the epidemiological shift [PDF]
The recently released results of the Global Burden of Disease, Injuries, and Risk Factor study 2013 reveal that during the past 23 years, metabolic and behavioral risk factors, including high BMI, increased their impact on global mortality and disability-

Abstract Kinase inhibitors are essential in targeted cancer therapy, yet resistance often emerges through secondary mutations, activation of compensatory signaling pathways, or drug‐efflux mechanisms. Artificial intelligence (AI) provides a workflow‐based strategy rather than a list of unrelated tools for predicting and addressing kinase‐inhibitor ...

Sorafenib prevents human retinal pigment epithelium cells from light-induced overexpression of VEGF, PDGF and PlGF [PDF]
Background Cumulative light exposure is significantly associated with progression of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Inhibition of vascular endothelial growth factor is the main target of current antiangiogenic treatment strategies in AMD ...

Silencing KIF14 reverses acquired resistance to sorafenib in hepatocellular carcinoma.
For nearly a decade, sorafenib has served as a first-line chemotherapeutic drug for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but it displays only limited efficacy against advanced drug-resistant HCC. Regorafenib, the first second-line drug approved for treatment after sorafenib failure, can reverse resistance to sorafenib.

Abstract Background Hypoxia modulates inflammation and oxidative stress through hypoxia‐inducible factor‐1α (HIF‐1α). Ferroptosis, an iron‐dependent cell death process, is regulated by glutathione peroxidase‐4 (GPX4) and involves lipid peroxidation markers like malondialdehyde (MDA).

Focal adhesion kinase: Insight into molecular roles and functions in hepatocellular carcinoma [PDF]
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the third leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. Due to the high incidence of post-operative recurrence after current treatments, the identification of new and more effective drugs is required.
