A Theory of the Ludwig-Soret Effect [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 1943
Abstract A mechanism of the Ludwig-Soret effect has been proposed and formulated after the recent theory of viscosity and diffusion. The important assumption therein adopted is that the reaction rate formula can be applied even in the systems which have a temperature gradient.

Dufour and Soret Effects on Square Porous Annulus [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2014
A study on heat and mass transfer behaviour on porous medium embedded in a square annulus is conducted. The inner surface wall is considered to have a cool temperature T c while the outer surface is exposed to a hot temperature T h. Finite element method (FEM) is used to solve the governing partial differential equations.

Coordination of Cyanobacterial Nitrate Assimilation and Photosynthesis by a Novel PsbO‐Interacting Protein PirN

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PirN was identified as a previously uncharacterized PsbO‐interacting protein specifically induced in nitrate‐grown cyanobacteria. Loss of PirN leads to coordinated downregulation of PsbO and the nitrate reductase NarB, causing decreased PSII activity and impaired growth under nitrate conditions. Complementation with either PsbO or NarB largely restores

MHD mixed convection on an inclined stretching plate in Darcy porous medium with Soret effect and variable surface conditions

open access: yesNonlinear Engineering, 2020
This work is concerned with a steady 2D laminar MHD mixed convective flow of an electrically conducting Newtonian fluid with low electrical conductivity along with heat and mass transfer on an isothermal stretching semi-infinite inclined plate embedded ...

Forces Induced by Non-Equilibrium Fluctuations: The Soret-Casimir Effect

open access: yes, 2003
The notion of fluctuation-induced forces is generalized to the cases where the fluctuations have nonequilibrium origin. It is shown that a net force is exerted on a single flat plate that restricts scale-free fluctuations of a scalar field in a ...

Mitochondrial Enzymes Mimetic Ultrasmall Palladium Nanozymes Prevent Senescence and Neurodegeneration Through Metabolic Reprogramming

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Simply constructed polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) modified palladium nanoparticles (PdP NPs) as cytochrome c oxidase (CcO) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) mimic are promising multifunctional nanoreactors to boost mitochondrial respiration chain function and refine homeostasis via regulation of mitochondrial dynamics and proteostasis sensor UPRmt, which ...

Development of convection in binary mixture with soret effect [PDF]

open access: yesMicrogravity - Science and Technology, 2006
The future Space experiment IVIDIL is planned to study the influence of vibration stimuli on the measurements of diffusion and thermodiffusion coefficients. A binary mixture of water and isopropanol is chosen as a working liquid. The principle of the Space experiment and ground based research are outlined.

Nanozymes for Advanced Hemoglobin‐Based Oxygen Carriers: Applications in Blood Substitution, Wound Healing, Antitumor Therapy, and Beyond

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review explores how hemoglobin‐based oxygen carriers (HBOCs) combined with nanozymes create multifunctional materials that deliver oxygen while maintaining redox homeostasis. Beyond artificial blood substitutes, these constructs enable wound healing with light‐triggered oxygen release, cancer therapy through enhanced oxygenation and reactive ...

Cross-Diffusion Effects on the Onset of Double Diffusive Convection in a Couple Stress Fluid Saturated Rotating Anisotropic Porous Layer

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2016
In this paper, we have investigated the onset of double diffusive convection (DDC) in a couple stress fluid saturated rotating anisotropic porous layer in the presence of Soret and Dufour effects using linear stability analyses which is based on the ...

Onset of Linear and Nonlinear Thermosolutal Convection with Soret and Dufour Effects in a Porous Collector under a Uniform Magnetic Field

open access: yesFluids, 2021
The present paper reports on an analytical and numerical study of combined Soret and Dufour effects on thermosolutal convection in a horizontal porous cavity saturated with an electrically conducting binary fluid under a magnetic field.
