EVALUATING USE OF OUTLOOK INFORMATION IN GRAIN SORGHUM STORAGE DECISIONS [PDF]
This study examines grain sorghum storage decisions in the Texas Coastal Bend region. Decisions involving use and non-use of outlook information are compared using stochastic dominance criteria.

Latitude effect on the development of photoperiodic sensitive sorghum [PDF]
Matching phenology with favourable abiotic and biotic conditions is a prerequisite for good varietal adaptation. That is particularly important in a context of climate change because the temperature increase is likely to modify the precocity of the ...

Field‐level crop choice responses to weather‐induced yield shocks in the US Corn Belt
Abstract As climate change increases the frequency and severity of extreme heat events, farmers are expected to face greater variability in crop yields. Using 10 million field‐level observations, this study examines how farmers in the US Corn Belt adjust corn–soybean rotation decisions in response to yield shocks largely driven by weather fluctuations.

Identifying common crop traits to address the variability in tiller production between sorghum and rice canopies [PDF]
Developing a common mechanistic model to predict tiller dynamics in sorghum and rice canopies growing in favorable conditions can greatly contribute to the identification of common genetic regions involved in tiller production of both species.

Performance of Fall Armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda Reared on Various Horticultural Crops
The developmental performance and reproductive success of the Australian population of fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) were evaluated on five horticultural crops under laboratory conditions. Sweetcorn and bean supported rapid development, lower mortality, and higher fecundity (good performance); whereas capsicum, strawberry, and okra resulted in ...

Integrated transcriptome, GWAS, and metabolome revealed the mechanism of seed germination in sorghum
IntroductionIn sorghum production, pre-harvest sprouting (PHS) is one of the most important problems, and the primary cause of sprouting susceptibility is a low dormancy prior to crop harvest.MethodsTo cope with this situation, we conducted transcriptome,

Wealth inequality and epidemics in the Republic of Venice (1400–1800)
Abstract This article analyses wealth inequality in the Republic of Venice during 1400–1800. The availability of a large database of homogeneous inequality measurements allows us to produce the most in‐depth study of the factors affecting inequality at the local level available thus far for any preindustrial society.
