Controlled production of acetic acid in wheat sour doughs
Zeitschrift fr Lebensmittel-Untersuchung und -Forschung, 1992Sour doughs are characterized by their pH value, their total amount of titratable acidity (TTA) and their fermentation quotient (FQ=mol ratio lactic acid/acetic acid). At comparable TTA, the FQ may evidently affect the sensory properties and the shelf life of breads.

A Novel Approach to Using THPS for Controlling Reservoir Souring
CORROSION 2011, 2011Abstract Biocides are traditionally used on a shot-dose, once per week, basis to control microbial proliferation within water injection systems. Whilst this approach can be highly effective for controlling biomass formation and microbially influenced corrosion within the injection system, it may not provide effective control of reservoir

Internal Corrosion Monitoring and Control in Sour Gas Systems
Materials Performance, 2005The corrosiveness of the gas stream, its attendant effect on operations and the economy, and the hazard to personnel and the general public in the event of a failure make it necessary to ensure the highest possible degree of corrosion control in sour/acid gas facilities.

Corrosion risk associated with microbial souring control using nitrate or nitrite
Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2005Souring, the production of hydrogen sulfide by sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) in oil reservoirs, can be controlled through nitrate or nitrite addition. To assess the effects of this containment approach on corrosion, metal coupons were installed in up-flow packed-bed bioreactors fed with medium containing 8 mM sulfate and 25 mM lactate.

Study of Sour Corrosion Mechanism under Controlled pH
CORROSION 2016, 2016Abstract In order to control and predict the influence of hydrogen sulfide on carbon steel corrosion, it is of a paramount importance to understand its corrosion mechanism. What is the mechanism and kinetics of formation and growth of a FeS layer?

Corrosion and Hydrogen Blistering Control in Sour Water System
CORROSION 1976, 1976Corrosion and hydrogen blistering problems in a variety of sour refinery overhead processes have increased in severity in recent years. The necessity to use sour crudes with high nitrogen content, increased through-puts, and more severe conditions caused by changes in processes; for example, changes to rizer cracking in Cat Crackers have all added to ...

Control of Sour Crude Corrosion In Kansas Production Operations
Corrosion, 1951The corrosive portion of Kansas oil fields covers generally all the area west of the Shoestring oil fields in the eastern part of the state. Within this area, the corrosion occurs mainly in wells producing from the Arbuckle limestone. Also, where serious corrosion occurs, there are certain common characteristics in chemical nature of well fluids and in

Weld Microstructural Control for Sour Service Drill Pipe Riser
CORROSION 2018, 2018Abstract Drillpipe risers (DPR) constructed with high sulfide stress cracking (SSC) resistance are designed and fabricated to suit subsea completion and early production operations in sour environments (H2S). Early production operations typically include extended well testing (EWT), which is required to evaluate production ...

Failure Modes and Effects Analysis of a Sour Corrosion Control System
CORROSION 2006, 2006Abstract A sour gas field is being developed in the Middle East with wet gas carbon steel pipelines with corrosion control by inhibition for export of the gas. A high availability is required on the corrosion inhibition system. One of the tools used to ensure that a high availability can be achieved is a Failure Modes and Effect Analysis
