Gene-targeted embryonic stem cells: real-time PCR assay for estimation of the number of neomycin selection cassettes

open access: yesBiological Procedures Online, 2011
In the preparation of transgenic murine ES cells it is important to verify the construct has a single insertion, because an ectopic neomycin phosphortransferase positive selection cassette (NEO) may cause a position effect.

Organization of aerobactin, hemolysin, and antibacterial resistance genes in lactose negative Escherichia coli strains of serotype O4 isolated from children with dhiarrea [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Epidemiologically related, non-lactose-fermenting (NLF) Escherichia coli strains of serotype O4 have been isolated at a high frequency from children with diarrhea in Somalia (M. Nicoletti, F. Superti, C. Conti, A. Calconi, and C. Zagaglia, J.

Distinct, developmental stage-specific activation mechanisms of trypanosome VSG genes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
The metacyclic form of African trypanosomes is the first to express genes for the Variant Surface Glycoprotein (VSG) and it uses an unusually predictable subset of the VSG gene repertoire.

Modifying Glucose Metabolism Reverses Memory Defects of Alzheimer's Disease Model at Late Stages

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using spatial transcriptomics, we show that ferul enanthate (SL‐ZF‐01) reverses episodic‐like memory deficits in aged, but not young, Alzheimer’s disease (AD) mice. SL restores glucose metabolism and Glucose Transporter 1/3 expression via an ‘Aging‐AD‐Rescue’ pattern, rescuing deficits seen in aged AD mice.

Antibody-resistant mutants of Borrelia burgdorferi: in vitro selection and characterization. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
We used polyclonal antisera and monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) to inhibit the growth of clonal populations of two strains of Borrelia burgdorferi, the Lyme disease agent, and thereby select for antibody-resistant mutants.

Tailoring Vascular‐Immune Homeostasis via Manganese‐DNA Complex‐Armed Immunogenic Extracellular Vesicles for Pancreatic Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that Mn2⁺–tumor DNA complexes encapsulated in dendritic cell (DC)– derived immunogenic extracellular vesicles (EVDC@Mn‐DNA) act as a DC‐specific cGAS– STING activator. EVDC@Mn‐DNA treatment enhances intratumoral DC activation, improves tumor vascular function, promotes CD8⁺ T cell activity, and suppresses pancreatic tumor growth,

Differential Display Protocol With Selected Primers That Preferentially Isolates mRNAs of Moderate- to Low-Abundance in a Microscopic System

open access: yesBioTechniques, 1996
A modified reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR)-based differential display procedure with selected primers (SPR) was developed to increase the bias toward isolating moderate- to low-abundance transcripts that are differentially ...

Differential regulation of expression of the multiple ADP/ATP translocase genes in human cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
The expression of the genes encoding the three isoforms of the human ADP/ATP translocase (T1, T2, and T3) has been investigated in cultured cell systems under different experimental conditions, using isoform- specific probes.
