Abortion in Sows [PDF]

open access: yesActa Veterinaria Scandinavica, 1970
Of a total of 31,766 pregnancies 465 abortions were reported, in average 1.46 %. By comparison of the frequency of abortion at different times of the year a significantly higher percentage of abortion was found in sows inseminated during the summer months. No significant difference was found between 68 boars as to the frequency of abortion.

Hyperspectral detection of fresh corn peeling damage using germinating sparse classification method

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Peeling damage reduces the quality of fresh corn ear and affects the purchasing decisions of consumers. Hyperspectral imaging technique has great potential to be used for detection of peeling-damaged fresh corn. However, conventional non-machine-learning

Impact of Sowing Date on Yield and Water Use Efficiency of Wheat Analyzed through Spatial Modeling and FORMOSAT-2 Images

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2015
Regional analysis of water use efficiency (WUE) is a relevant method for diagnosing the performance of irrigation systems in water-limited environments. In this study, we investigated the potential of FORMOSAT-2 images to provide spatial estimates of WUE

Niches, rather than neutrality, structure a grassland pioneer guild [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Pioneer species are fast-growing, short-lived gap exploiters. They are prime candidates for neutral dynamics because they contain ecologically similar species whose low adult density is likely to cause widespread recruitment limitation, which slows ...
