Operational Solar Flare Ensemble Forecasting Model for Full-disk Active Regions

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
Solar flares are explosive releases of magnetic energy in localized regions of the solar atmosphere that threaten the safety of solar–terrestrial technological systems, making their forecasting critical for space-weather-forecasting support services ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

IonoGAN: An Enhanced Model for Forecasting Quiet and Disturbed Ionospheric Features From Predicted Ionograms

open access: yesSpace Weather
Ionograms are radar echo graphs that depict vertical ionospheric density profiles, structures, fluctuations, and irregularities, with the F region represented by F‐trace and Spread‐F features in the graphs.

Identification of functional murine mitochondrial formyl peptides and their effects on myeloid‐derived suppressor cell generation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We first identified functional murine mitochondrial N‐formyl peptides (MT‐FPs) and investigated their effects on the in vitro myeloid‐derived suppressor cell (MDSC) generation from bone marrow cells. We demonstrated that MT‐FPs acted directly on bone marrow cells to promote MDSC generation and modulated the polymorphonuclear (PMN)‐MDSC/monocyte (M ...

Relationship Between Recurrent Magnetic Flux Rope and Moving Magnetic Features

open access: yesUniverse
Large-scale magnetic flux ropes (MFRs) usually become visible during an eruption and are the core structures of coronal mass ejections, but the nature of MFRs is still a mystery. Here, we identify a large transequatorial MFR that spans across NOAA 13373 (

Teachers and Students Investigating Plants in Space

open access: yes
In this activity students will grow "AstroPlants," a special fast-growing plant used in Space Shuttle microgravity experiments. They will become familiar with the growth process and life cycle of the plants and investigate the effects of gravity and ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Automatic Detection and Segmentation of Coronal Mass Ejections in LASCO C3 Images

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
Coronal mass ejections (CMEs) are the key drivers of both nonrecurrent geomagnetic storms and gradual solar energetic particle events. A near real-time capability of automatic CME detection from coronagraph images is crucial for operational space weather

Dynamic X-ray imaging of the magnetosheath expected during a super storm

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences
The Earth’s magnetosheath is a vital source region of soft X-ray emissions generated by the solar wind charge exchange (SWCX) mechanism in geospace.

Formalising building requirements using an Activity/Space Model

open access: yes, 1997
The specification of the spatial requirements for a building is the basis for the architectural design of the building. The specification usually takes the form of an extensive text-based document, a briefing database for large projects, or informal ...
