Chaotic Combustion in Spark Ignition Engines [PDF]
We analyse the combustion process in a spark ignition engine using the experimental data of an internal pressure during the combustion process and show that the system can be driven to chaotic behaviour.

NONPERIODIC OSCILLATIONS OF PRESSURE IN A SPARK IGNITION COMBUSTION ENGINE [PDF]
We report our results on non-periodic experimental time series of pressure in a spark ignition engine. The experiments were performed for a low rotational velocity of a crankshaft and a relatively large spark advance angle. We show that the combustion process has many chaotic features.

A Numerical Study of a Simple Stochastic/Deterministic Model of Cycle-to-Cycle Combustion Fluctuations in Spark Ignition Engines [PDF]
We examine a simple, fuel-air, model of combustion in a spark ignition (si) engine with indirect injection. In our two fluid model, variations of fuel mass burned in cycle sequences appear due to stochastic fluctuations of a fuel feed amount. We have shown that a small amplitude of these fluctuations affects considerably the stability of a combustion ...

Combustion Process in a Spark Ignition Engine: Dynamics and Noise Level Estimation [PDF]
We analyse the experimental time series of internal pressure in a four cylinder spark ignition engine. In our experiment, performed for different spark advance angles, apart from usual cyclic changes of engine pressure we observed oscillations.

On the evolution of fuel droplet evaporation zone and its interaction with the flame front in ignition of spray flames [PDF]
Evolution of fuel droplet evaporation zone and its interaction with the propagating flame front are studied in this work. A general theory is developed to describe the evolutions of flame propagation speed, flame temperature, droplet evaporation onset and completion locations in ignition and propagation of spherical flames.

The Effect of Spark Timing on the Spark Ignition Engine Performance
In this work the effect of spark timing on the spark ignition engines is investigated by computer simulation and experimental test for speeds of (1500,2000,2500,3000 and 3500)rpm at spark timing of (20o,30o,40o,50o and 60o) before TDC for each speed ...

Signal Processing of Acoustic Data for Condition Monitoring of an Aircraft Ignition System
Degradation of the ignition system can result in startup failure in an aircraft’s auxiliary power unit. In this paper, a novel acoustics-based solution that can enable condition monitoring of an APU ignition system was proposed.

Study on Dual-spark Ignition Rapid Combustion Characteristic of Opposed-piston Two-stroke GDI Engine [PDF]
The mixture formation and combustion process of an opposed-piston two-stroke (OPTS) gasoline direct injection (GDI) engine was carried out by numerical simulation. The effects on in-cylinder combustion and engine performance in different ignition ways of
