Stoma‐Shell Nanoarchitecture for Enhanced Plasma Confinement Catalysis in Synthesis of Ethanol from CO2

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
High‐energy electron impact in plasma catalysis often causes excessive dissociation of active intermediates, limiting C2+ product selectivity. To address this challenge, a bio‐inspired stoma‐shell nanoarchitecture is designed to decouple electron impact from catalytic reaction zones.

Igniting Ca 2+ sparks with TRPML1 [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2020
Storage and voiding of urine in mammals is accomplished by a reciprocal contractile relationship between the bladder and the urethra. During the storage phase, the urethra remains contracted to prevent leakage of urine, while the bladder is relaxed to accommodate the increased volume of urine.

Photon Avalanching Nanoparticles: The Next Generation of Upconverting Nanomaterials?

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This Perspective outlines the mechanistic foundations that enable photon‐avalanche (PA) behavior in lanthanide nanomaterials and contrasts them with emerging application spaces and forward‐looking design strategies. By bridging threshold engineering, energy‐transfer dynamics, and materials engineering, we provide a coherent roadmap for advancing the ...
