Detection of Pitting in Gears Using a Deep Sparse Autoencoder
In this paper; a new method for gear pitting fault detection is presented. The presented method is developed based on a deep sparse autoencoder. The method integrates dictionary learning in sparse coding into a stacked autoencoder network.

Mapping Nanoscale Buckling in Atomically Thin Cr2Ge2Te6
Atomic‐resolution STEM is used to resolve nanoscale buckling in monolayer Cr2Ge2Te₆. A noise‐robust image analysis reconstructs three‐dimensional lattice distortions from single plan‐view images, revealing pronounced defect‐driven nm‐scale out‐of‐plane buckling.

Artificial Intelligence as the Next Visionary in Liquid Crystal Research
The functions of AI in the research laboratory are becoming increasingly sophisticated, allowing the entire process of hypothesis formulation, material design, synthesis, experimental design, and reiterative testing to be automated. In our work, we conceive how the incorporation of AI in the laboratory environment will transform the role and ...

Coagulative granular hydrogels are composed of packed thrombin‐functionalized microgels that catalyze the conversion of fibrinogen into a secondary fibrin network, filling the interstitial voids. This bio‐inspired approach stabilizes the biomaterial to match the robustness of bulk hydrogels without compromising injectability, mimicking the initial ...

An Accurate and Efficient Device-Free Localization Approach Based on Sparse Coding in Subspace
In practical device-free localization (DFL) applications, for enlarging the monitoring area and improving localization accuracy, too many nodes need to be deployed, which results in a large volume of DFL data with high dimensions.

Sparse Sequential Dirichlet Coding
This short paper describes a simple coding technique, Sparse Sequential Dirichlet Coding, for multi-alphabet memoryless sources. It is appropriate in situations where only a small, unknown subset of the possible alphabet symbols can be expected to occur ...

Real‐Time 3D Ultrasound Imaging with an Ultra‐Sparse, Low Power Architecture
This article presents a novel, ultra‐sparse ultrasound architecture that paves the way for wearable real‐time 3D imaging. By integrating a unique convolutional array with chirped data acquisition, the system achieves high‐resolution volumetric scans at a fraction of the power and hardware complexity.
