Differences and Similarities for Spatial and Feature-Based Selective Attentional Orienting

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2017
Using selective attention, we prioritize behaviorally relevant information out of all surrounding stimulation. Attention can be oriented intentionally to spatial and/or non-spatial properties (feature-based attention).

Cotargeting TREM2 and IL2 pathways triggers multipronged anticancer immunity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Von Locquenghien et al. report that MiTE‐144, a triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2) blocking antibody fused to interleukin‐2 (IL2) variant with tumour microenvironment restricted activation, demonstrates superior anticancer efficiency in a preclinical setting.

RaMBat: Accurate identification of medulloblastoma subtypes from diverse data sources with severe batch effects

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.

Lighting Direction and Visual Field Modulate Perceived Intensity of Illumination

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2013
When interpreting object shape from shading the visual system exhibits a strong bias that illumination comes from above and slightly from the left. We asked whether such biases in the perceived direction of illumination might also influence its perceived

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Attentional biases towards threat: the concomitant presence of difficulty of disengagement and attentional avoidance in low trait anxious individuals

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2014
Attentional biases toward threat (ABTs) have been described in high anxious individuals and in clinical samples whereas they have been rarely reported in non-clinical samples (Bar-Haim et al., 2007; Cisler and Koster, 2010). Three kinds of ABTs have been

Spatial attention improves performance in spatial resolution tasks

open access: yesVision Research, 1999
This study used peripheral precueing to explore the effect of covert transient attention on performance in spatial resolution tasks. Experiments 1 (Landolt-square) and 2 ('broken-line') measured gap resolution and Experiment 3 measured vernier resolution. In all three tasks the target was presented alone in a large number of possible locations, ranging

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

rTMS over bilateral inferior parietal cortex induces decrement of spatial sustained attention

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2013
Sustained attention is an essential brain function that enables a subject to maintain attention level over the time of a task. In previous work, the right inferior parietal lobe (IPL) has been reported as one of the main brain regions related to ...

Dissecting the Neural Focus of Attention Reveals Distinct Processes for Spatial Attention and Object-Based Storage in Visual Working Memory

open access: yesbioRxiv, 2018
Complex cognition relies on both on-line representations in working memory (WM), said to reside in the focus of attention, and passive off-line representations of related information.
