Generation of Higher-Order Hermite–Gaussian Modes via Cascaded Phase-Only Spatial Light Modulators

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
The spatial distribution of higher-order Hermite–Gaussian (HG) modes is more complicated than the fundamental mode, and the characteristics of different modes and their orthogonal characteristics have essential applications in the fields of measurement ...

Theory of dynamic mode-II delamination in end-loaded split tests

open access: yesComposites Part C: Open Access, 2020
The dynamic mode-II energy release rate (ERR) of the end-loaded split (ELS) test with applied time-dependent displacement is derived for the first time with the effect of vibration included.

Spatial modelling of claim frequency and claim size in insurance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In this paper models for claim frequency and claim size in non-life insurance are considered. Both covariates and spatial random e ects are included allowing the modelling of a spatial dependency pattern.

All-fiber spatial rotation manipulation for radially asymmetric modes

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
We propose and experimentally demonstrate spatial rotation manipulation for radially asymmetric modes based on two kinds of polarization maintaining few-mode fibers (PM-FMFs).

Detailed study of modal gain in a multimode EDFA supporting LP01 and LP11 mode group amplification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We demonstrate simultaneous modal gains of ~20dB for different pair-wise combinations of spatial and polarization modes in a MM-EDFA.

3 × 40 Gbit/s All-Optical Logic Operation Based on Low-Loss Triple-Mode Silicon Waveguide

open access: yesMicromachines, 2022
Information capacity of single-mode fiber communication systems face fundamental limitations imposed by optical nonlinearities. Spatial division multiplexing (SDM) offers a new dimension for upgrading fiber communication systems. Many enabling integrated

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Design and Characteristics of Diamond-Assisted Ring-Core Fiber for Space Division Multiplexing

open access: yesPhotonics, 2022
In this paper, a novel diamond-assisted ring-core fiber (DRF) is proposed. With the introduction of a low-refractive-index diamond-shaped region located in the center of the core, the proposed fiber effectively eliminates spatial degeneracy of the LPmn ...

Single plane spatial mode sorter

open access: yesOptics Express
A mode sorter separates a set of M orthogonal spatial modes in a shared input channel into M different output channels. Here we present an analytic derivation and experimental validation of a single plane device for sorting spatial modes from a diverse ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative
