The determinants of urban density: the Israeli case [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
In the struggle against urban sprawl minimum requirements for urban density has become one of the promising tools in determining spatial planning policy, particularly in densely populated countries. This tool was first proposed in the Israel Master Plan '

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

A spatial panel approach to the east German wage curve [PDF]

open access: yes
This study presents results about wage effects of unemployment in eastern Germany. The standard approach to analyse the wage curve takes no account of the spatial relationship among regions. Ignoring this relationship may seriously bias the results.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Hands‐on protocol for preparing water‐soluble fractions from agri‐food samples for NMR‐based metabolomics analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This research protocol outlines a workflow for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)‐based metabolomics in the agri‐food sector. Using two case studies—strawberry leaves (solid matrix) and wine (liquid matrix)—it details the procedures for sample preparation, data acquisition, and processing.

TMC4 localizes to multiple taste cell types in the mouse taste papillae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Transmembrane channel‐like 4 (TMC4), a voltage‐dependent chloride channel, plays a critical role in amiloride‐insensitive salty taste transduction. TMC4 is broadly expressed in all mature taste cell types, suggesting a possible involvement of multiple cell types in this pathway.

Sharp relaxation rates for plane waves of reaction-diffusion systems

open access: yes, 2019
It is well-known and classical result that spectrally stable traveling waves of a general reaction-diffusion system in one spatial dimension are asymptotically stable with exponential relaxation rates. In a series of works in the 1990's, the authors have

Geostatistical indexes for quantifying spatial information on hyperspectral imaging: an application for the evaluation of regression models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Hyperspectral (HS) images have the characteristic of containing both spectral and spatial information of a sample. Typically, spectral information can be related with chemical and physical properties through multivariate regression models.
