Comparative study of blood biochemistry in clinically healthy farmed barramundi (Lates calcarifer) and rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) from freshwater recirculating aquaculture systems

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Barramundi (Lates calcarifer) is an economically significant aquaculture species and ranks among Australia's top five farmed finfish. As global production intensifies, understanding the physiology and health of barramundi is essential to support animal welfare and industry profitability.

The Embryonic Development of the Cotylean Polyclad Phrikoceros jannetae

open access: yesActa Zoologica, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Polyclads exhibit distinct developmental modes ranging from direct to indirect development, with several transitional stages also recognised. The existence of an indirect developmental mode in polyclads with a planktonic life history stage in the form of a free‐swimming larva is unique among all free‐living flatworms and makes polyclads a ...

Liminal Bioethics for Liminal Statuses: A New Method for Analysing Novel Biological Entities

open access: yesBioethics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Novel biological entities such as cell lines and organoids do not typically fit into established conceptual categories, such as ‘human’ or ‘nonhuman’, ‘gift’ or ‘property’. This makes developing robust ethical principles or policy solutions difficult.

Fused Collapsing for Wide BVH Construction

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract We propose a novel approach for constructing wide bounding volume hierarchies on the GPU by integrating a simple bottom‐up collapsing procedure within an existing binary bottom‐up BVH builder. Our approach directly constructs a wide BVH without traversing a temporary binary BVH as done by previous approaches and achieves 1.4 – 1.6 × lower ...

NePO: Neural Point Octrees for Large‐Scale Novel View Synthesis

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
We introduce Neural Point Octrees (NePOs), a scalable radiance field representation that organises point clouds hierarchically for efficient optimisation and rendering of large scale scenes. NePOs enable level of detail selection, joint refinement of appearance and camera poses, and real‐time rendering of hundreds of millions of points.
