Female Japanese chub mackerel, Scomber japonicus, were collected in 1993 from April to June (36 days), in the water around Izu Islands, Japan, which is one of the primary spawning areas. Spawning time, spawning frequency and batch fecundity were determined by histological methods.

Parentage analysis, employing five hypervariable microsatellite markers, was used to follow spawning patterns of red drum Sciaenops ocellatus broodfish in two spawning tanks through most of a calendar year in a marine fish hatchery dedicated to stock enhancement. Five of six dams and all four sires spawned at least once during the year.

Abstract Six pairs of fathead minnows Pimephales promelas were isolated in 0.3 × 1.5-m spawning (wading) pools partially submerged in an outdoor swimming pool from May 20 through October 20, 1980. Five pairs of fish that survived the experiment produced from 16 to 26 clutches of eggs each between May 22 and August 22.
