Environmental regulation of individual depth on a cod spawning ground [PDF]

open access: yesAquatic Biology, 2012
Fine-scale characteristics of spawning grounds may provide the opportunity for cod Gadus morhua L. to regulate their external environment by adjusting their depth. Ultrasonic telemetry was used to study how the environment influenced the depth-related behaviour of individual wild and farmed cod on a spawning ground.

HY-1C/D Reveals the Chlorophyll-a Concentration Distribution Details in the Intensive Islands' Waters and Its Consistency with the Distribution of Fish Spawning Ground

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
Chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) change details derived from HY-1C/D images in the waters of the Zhoushan archipelago were analyzed. A new Chl-a inverse model was built based on the relationship between the in situ Chl-a and the combination of red, blue and green ...

Analysis of reproductive traits reveals complex population dynamics on a small geographical scale in Atlantic herring

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2023
Atlantic herring (Clupea harengus) has a complex population structure and displays a variety of reproductive strategies. Differences in reproductive strategies among herring populations are linked to their time of spawning, as well as to their ...

Case Study: Influence of Three Gorges Reservoir Impoundment on Hydrological Regime of the Acipenser sinensis Spawning Ground, Yangtze River, China

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution, 2021
After the construction of the Three Gorges Dam (TGD) in China, the downstream has been affected by the reduction in sediment discharge and regulation of flow processes, which have resulted in severe scouring and changes hydrological regime. Consequently,
