ABSTRACT Even though data on hospital admissions are widely used in health research, hospitalization‐related estimands measured using these data are not always clearly conceptualized. Consequently, estimators of these quantities can have unclear rationales and undesirable properties.

Construction and Application of the Habitat Quality Index of Eriocheir sinensis Spawning Grounds
Eriocheir sinensis is an important fishery resource in the Yangtze River basin, which has brought about huge socio-economic benefits. The estuarine spawning grounds of E. sinensis, however, has experienced negative effects, such as habitat alteration and

GIS methods for inventory of pacific salmons spawning grounds in the Amur River
Inventory of spawning grounds is an important tool for estimation of pacific salmons abundance and adequate management of their stocks. A set of the most up-to-date, relevant and effective methods based upon geographic information system (GIS) is ...

Environmental regulation of individual depth on a cod spawning ground [PDF]
Fine-scale characteristics of spawning grounds may provide the opportunity for cod Gadus morhua L. to regulate their external environment by adjusting their depth. Ultrasonic telemetry was used to study how the environment influenced the depth-related behaviour of individual wild and farmed cod on a spawning ground.

Abstract BACKGROUND Lipid quality is one of the most important indicators of the nutritional value of farmed mussels. In open‐coastal environments, factors such as cultivation depth and seasonal changes affect lipid dynamics, but their combined effects on lipid quality remain unclear.

Herring (Clupea harengus L.) spawning and spawning ground characteristics in the Baltic Sea
Abstract An investigation of Baltic herring spawning grounds using SCUBA divers was carried out in 1982 in the western central Baltic Sea. Characteristics of the 1982 spawning are described and compared with those of an earlier study in the same area as well as with existing data from other parts of the Baltic, and from the Atlantic and Pacific areas.

Revealing the Resonant Physics of Open Photonic Time Crystals
ABSTRACT Photonic time crystals (PTCs) are media whose permittivity is modulated periodically in time, enabling momentum bandgaps and parametric amplification of light. Their realization at the nanoscale can revolutionize the study of light‐matter interactions.

Ion Activation Methods for Top‐Down Proteomics
ABSTRACT Mass spectrometry (MS) has emerged as a premier method used to characterize the sequences of proteins. Top‐down proteomics aims to capture the multiple sources of structural diversity reflected in proteins, such as those that arise from alternative RNA splicing events or the addition of post‐translational modifications. Tandem MS (i.e., MS/MS)
