Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Teaching Specialized Translation. Error-tagged Translation Learner Corpora

open access: yesSendebar, 2017
This paper describes the method used in teaching specialised translation in the English Language Translation Master’s programme at Masaryk University. After a brief description of the courses, the focus shifts to translation learner corpora (TLC) compiled in the new Hypal interface, which can be integrated in Moodle.

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Translation Technique and Translating a Translation, with Special Reference to Ezekiel 8–11

open access: yesAramaic Studies, 2007
Abstract The Peshitta of Ezekiel had been regarded as a free translation since the time of Cornill to the Commentary of Zimmerli. Martin Mulder, however, regarded it as a fairly literal translation. The relationship of the Peshitta of Ezekiel to the Septuagint has also been described in different ways, with some ...

TRANSLATION OF LEGAL DOCUMENTS AS A SPECIAL TYPE OF TRANSLATION

open access: yes, 2023
The article is devoted to the difference between translations of newspaper information materials and translations of official business documents is that they describe certain phenomena in order to influence the reader; they do not have individual style features, because are written by different authors, and also do not have a strictly defined syntactic

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

Du contexte didactique aux pratiques professionnelles : proposition d’une grille multicritères pour l’évaluation de la qualité en traduction spécialisée

open access: yesILCEA, 2014
This article posits that current translation quality assessment methods applied to specialized translation, be it in a professional context or in an academic environment, remain unsatisfactory.

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.
