Are oestrus odours species specific?
Behavioural Brain Research, 2006Adult male rats were exposed to faeces odours of three animal species (rat, fox and horse). They displayed erections in the presence of faeces from oestrous females (whatever the species). In addition, fox faeces (whatever the gender or hormonal status) elicited an expected freezing reaction.

Species Specific Pharmacokinetics of Rolitetracycline
Journal of Veterinary Medicine Series A, 1995SummaryComparative studies on some selected pharmacokinetic parameters of rolitetracycline (effective antimicrobial activity levels) in sheep, pigs, rabbits, chickens and pigeons were carried out after intravenous administration of the drug at a dose of 5 mg/kg. The results revealed that a two‐compartment open model was usually optimal.

Species-Specific Myoglobin Oxidation
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2011The effect of the lipid oxidation product, 4-hydroxy-2-nonenal (HNE), on oxidation of oxymyoglobin (OxyMb) from seven different meat-producing species was investigated. Relative to controls, HNE increased OxyMb oxidation within all species (p < 0.05) at both 25 and 4 °C, pH 5.6. The relative effect of HNE was greater for myoglobins (Mbs) that contained

Gamete interaction: Is it species‐specific?
Molecular Reproduction and Development, 2006AbstractReproductive isolation is pivotal to maintain species separation and it can be achieved through a plethora of mechanisms. In addition, the development of barriers to gamete interaction may drive speciation. Such barriers to interspecific gamete interaction can be prezygotic or postzygotic.

Species-specific and Non-species-specific Elemental Trends in Tree Rings
Doklady Earth Sciences, 2021The goal was to find out how consistent the elemental distributions in tree rings are. The dataset was received for a long-term afforestation experiment that included even soil conditions and a variety of conifers (Scots pine, Norway spruce, Siberian pine, and Siberian larch) growing in pure stands.

Species specificity in mouse glycophorin
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 199189, 65, 46 and 29 Kd mouse glycophorin proteins identified during polyacrylamide electrophoresis of mouse erythrocytes have been further characterized. These proteins (1) stain positive with Periodic Acid Schiff reagent after sodium hydroxide treatment; (2) labeled using [125I] in intact cells; (3) co-isolated along with integral membrane proteins in ...

Species Specificity in Fertilization
1974In his classical monograph, Problems of Fertilization, Lillie (1919) devoted a chapter to the problem of specificity in fertilization which, nearly 40 years later, Rothschild (1956) commended to all students of fertilization. In summing up his own chapter on “Specificity”, Rothschild considered the only advances to have been made since Lillie’s ...

“Species Specificity” of Interferons: a Misnomer?
Nature, 1967IN 1961, there were two reports of monkey interferon protecting human cells1,2 and one of human interferon protecting monkey cells3, but in none of these was the oxtent of the cross-reaction measured. In view of the usual strict “species specificity” of iiiterferons (for example, chick interferon is not active in mouse cells, human cells4 or duck ...

The liver specific protein: evidence for species-specific and non-species-specific determinants.
Journal of clinical & laboratory immunology, 1980Liver specific protein (LSP) is known to be a macrolipoprotein of complete organ-specificity but without complete species-specificity. This membrane antigen is believed to play an important role in the pathogenesis of human and experimental chronic active hepatitis (CAH).

Species specificity in serum albumins
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology, 1963Abstract 1. 1. The serum albumins of six mammalian species have been studied by methods which permit comparison of their primary structure. 2. 2. Chromatograms of the peptides produced by tryptic digestion of performate-oxidized proteins revealed patterns indicating major species differences. 3. 3.
