Aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases (aaRSs) are enzymes that catalyze the transfer of amino acids to their cognate tRNAs as building blocks for translation. Each of the aaRS families plays a pivotal role in protein biosynthesis and is indispensable for cell ...

Phase Transition in Two Species Zero-Range Process [PDF]
We study a zero-range process with two species of interacting particles. We show that the steady state assumes a simple factorised form, provided the dynamics satisfy certain conditions, which we derive. The steady state exhibits a new mechanism of condensation transition wherein one species induces the condensation of the other.

Hypomorphic ADAM17ex/ex mice showed defects in mucosal regeneration due to inefficient enhanced GFR shedding. ADAM17 is the main sheddase of interleukin-6 receptor (IL-6R) to induce IL-6 trans-signaling. However, serum levels of soluble murine IL-6R were

Proteolysis of insulin-like growth factor binding proteins (IGFBPs) by calpain [PDF]
Calpains are non-lysosomal, Ca2+-dependent cysteine proteases, which are ubiquitously distributed across cell types and vertebrate species. The rules that govern calpain specificity have not yet been determined.

Environ centrality reveals the tendency of indirect effects to homogenize the functional importance of species in ecosystems [PDF]
Ecologists and conservation biologists need to identify the relative importance of species to make sound management decisions and effectively allocate scarce resources. We introduce a new method, termed environ centrality, to determine the relative importance of a species in an ecosystem network with respect to ecosystem energy--matter exchange.

Effects of chronic browsing on life‐history traits of an irruptive large herbivore population
This study aimed to determine the relationship between diet quality, body mass, and size (hind foot length), and female reproduction and sought to identify the mechanism by which high density under severe food limitations is maintained. Our results demonstrated that sika deer introduced to Nakanoshima Island have maintained high densities through high ...

Cultivation of Wild Species from Goniolimon genera: a Case Study
During the period 1996-2001 three wild perennial Bulgarian plants belong to Plumbaginaceae family (Goniolimon tataricum Boiss., Goniolimon besserianum (Shut ex Reichenb.) and Goniolimon collinum (Griseb.)) were studied at the Floriculture Institute ...

Zonadhesin Is Essential for Species Specificity of Sperm Adhesion to the Egg Zona Pellucida*
Interaction of rapidly evolving molecules imparts species specificity to sperm-egg recognition in marine invertebrates, but it is unclear whether comparable interactions occur during fertilization in any vertebrate species.
