Nutrient/TOR signaling controls adipose mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM) to regulate organismal growth in Drosophila

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Animals must match their growth rate to available nutrients. We show that in Drosophila larvae, the nutrient‐sensing TOR kinase controls growth by regulating levels of TFAM, a key regulator of mitochondrial function, in the adipose tissue. When nutrients are abundant, high TOR activity suppresses TFAM, lowering mitochondrial bioenergetic activity and ...

On Energy Assessment of Titanium Alloys Belt Grinding Involving Abrasive Wear Effects

open access: yesChinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering, 2023
Improved energy utilisation, precision, and quality are critical in the current trend of low-carbon green manufacturing. In this study, three abrasive belts were prepared at various wear stages and characterised quantitatively.

Peripheral lysosomes recruit PLEKHG3 to focal adhesions and restrain protrusion dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proximity‐dependent labeling at the LAMTOR complex revealed the Rho GEF PLEKHG3 as a lysosome‐proximal protein directing the study toward the influence of lysosome positioning on actin dynamics and cell motility. We show that PLEKHG3 colocalizes with lysosomes at focal adhesion sites and observe that forced peripheral dispersion of lysosomes hinders ...

Numerical simulation of induced cutting in deep coal [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2019
Deep coal cutting is a hot research topic at present. In this paper, the cutting technology of three-drum shearer was proposed based on previous studies.

Analysis on the influence law of traction speed on the cutting performance of coal containing hard concretion

open access: yesMechanics & Industry, 2023
Due to the great differences in mechanical properties between hard concretion and coal, the shearer drum cutting coal and rock containing hard concretion will inevitably lead to a series of problems, such as severe load impact, increased cutting specific

Prediction of specific cutting energy for large diameter circular saws during natural stone cutting

open access: yesInternational Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences, 2012
Abstract Statistical methods re-utilized for the prediction of specific cutting energy values ( SE cut ) based on the operational variables of block cutters and rock properties. Performance measurements of seven different types of block cutters were applied to six different carbonate rocks and three stone processing plants.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.
