Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Structural, optical, opto-thermal and thermal properties of ZnS–PVA nanofluids synthesized through a radiolytic approach

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2015
This work describes a fast, clean and low-cost approach to synthesize ZnS–PVA nanofluids consisting of ZnS nanoparticles homogeneously distributed in a PVA solution.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Effect of moisture content on some engineering properties of mahogany (Khaya senegalensis) seed and kernel

open access: yesResearch in Agricultural Engineering, 2014
Some engineering properties of mahogany seed and kernel were investigated and expressed as a function of moisture content. In the moisture ranges of 7.1-32% and 5.3-22% (d.b.), respectively, the seed and kernel length, width and thickness increased with ...

Specific Heat of Disordered Superfluid $^{3}$He

open access: yes, 2004
The specific heat of superfluid $^{3}$He, disordered by a silica aerogel, is found to have a sharp discontinuity marking the thermodynamic transition to superfluidity at a temperature reduced from that of bulk $^{3}$He. The magnitude of the discontinuity

Double superconducting transition in the filled skutterudite PrOs4Sb12 and sample characterizations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A thorough characterization of many samples of the filled skutterudite compound PrOs4Sb12 is provided. We find that the double superconducting transition in the specific heat Tc1~1.89K and Tc2~1.72K tends to appear in samples with a large residual ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Pairing and specific heat in hot nuclei

open access: yes, 2013
The thermodynamics of pairing phase-transition in nuclei is studied in the canonical ensemble and treating the pairing correlations in a finite-temperature variation after projection BCS approach (FT-VAP).

Large-$q$ expansion of the specific heat for the two-dimensional $q$-state Potts model [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We have calculated the large-$q$ expansion for the specific heat at the phase transition point in the two-dimensional $q$-state Potts model to the 23rd order in $1/\sqrt{q}$ using the finite lattice method.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.
