KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Creep behavior analysis of conical observation window for human occupied vehicle based on ABAQUS

open access: yesZhongguo Jianchuan Yanjiu, 2022
ObjectivesThe observation window is the most important component of a human occupied vehicle (HOV) for personnel and structural safety. As such, it is extremely important to accurately calculate its creep performance under long-period loads. MethodsFirst,

Parametric shape optimization of biaxial tensile specimen [PDF]

open access: yesPAMM, 2016
AbstractCommon cruciform specimen for biaxial tensile testing of sheet moulding compound, take damage and finally fail in uniaxially loaded areas. When using these specimen, an observation of damage initialization and failure in biaxially loaded areas is, therefore, not possible.

Hybridizing a matheuristic with ALNS for the optimal collection and delivery of medical specimens

open access: yesInternational Transactions in Operational Research, 2023
AbstractThe past few years of the COVID‐19 pandemic outbreak have shown that optimal management of medical specimens is a key aspect of healthcare logistics, both for addressing the delivery of perishable items such as vaccines, and for ensuring the timely analysis of swabs and samples.

ESR1 methylation and ESR1 mutations in circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and paired plasma‐cfDNA of advanced breast cancer patients: A feasibility proof‐of‐concept study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and plasma cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) were analyzed to detect ESR1 mutations and methylation in patients with advanced breast cancer. CTC‐derived DNA showed higher sensitivity for mutation detection and revealed complementary genetic and epigenetic alterations, highlighting the added value of CTC analysis for understanding ...

Minimizing crack energy release rate by topology optimization

open access: yes, 2018
Fatigue cracked primary aircraft structural parts that cannot be replaced need to be repaired by other means. A structurally efficient repair method is to use adhesively bonded patches as reinforcements.

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Two Contributions to Rolling Contact Fatigue Testing Considering Different Diameters of Rail and Wheel Discs

open access: yesLubricants, 2023
Scaled rolling contact fatigue tests, used to practically simulate the wear of the wheel and rail material under laboratory conditions, are typically classified into two categories. Tests in the first category use twin-disc stands, while the second group

Progress towards an optimal specimen support for electron cryomicroscopy

open access: yesCurrent Opinion in Structural Biology, 2016
The physical principles of electron-specimen interaction govern the design of specimen supports for electron cryomicroscopy (cryo-EM). Supports are constructed to suspend biological samples within the vacuum of the electron microscope in a way that maximises image contrast.
