We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Parallel h-p spectral element method for elliptic problems on polygonal domains [PDF]
It is well known that elliptic problems when posed on non-smooth domains, develop singularities. We examine such problems within the framework of spectral element methods and resolve the singularities with exponential ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

An improved spectral decomposition flexibility perturbation method for finite element model updating
Finite element analysis is the most powerful tool to predict the behavior of a structure in engineering practice. Generally, the initial finite element model must be corrected with experimental data due to its complexity.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

The Penalty resolution of the spectral element discretization of the time dependent Darcy equations
The time-dependent Darcy system, when discretized in time using the implicit Euler scheme and in space using the spectral element method, can be efficiently solved using the penalty method.

A coupled approximate deconvolution and dynamic mixed scale model for large-eddy simulation
Large-eddy simulations of incompressible Newtonian fluid flows with approximate deconvolution models based on the van Cittert method are reported. The Legendre spectral element method is used for the spatial discretization to solve the filtered Navier ...

This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Numerical solution of the viscoelastic wave equation by Galerkin spectral element method [PDF]
In this paper, the Galerkin spectral element method (GSEM) is presented for solving the one-dimensional viscoelastic wave equation. The finite difference approximation is applied for temporal discretization, and the convergence order of the technique is ...
