Metodología de modelación de escenarios de riesgo sísmico en Managua, Nicaragua

open access: yesNexo, 2010
The research methodology for seismic risk scenarios modeling in Managua, Nicaragua was carried out by the CENTRAL AMERICA SEISMIC RISK REDUCTION PROJECT (RESIS II) in phase II under the auspices of the center for disaster prevention in Central America ...

Seismic Microzonation of Tehran based on deterministic seismic hazard analysis and seismic indexes around faults [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Structural and Construction Engineering, 2017
Tehran has situated over several active faults such as Mosha, North Tehran, North Ray and South Ray faults and has experienced strong earthquakes in its history.

Electron acceleration in solar flares: theory of spectral evolution [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2006
Context: Stochastic acceleration is thought to be a key mechanism in the energization of solar flare electrons. Aims: We study whether stochastic acceleration can reproduce the observed soft-hard-soft evolution of the spectral features of the hard X-ray emitted by suprathermal electron.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Seismic Acceleration Spectrum of Ground Surface under Urban Subway Tunnels with Circular Cross Sections in Soil Deposits Based on SSI

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2019
Underground tunnels with circular cross section nowadays have great application in the field of transportation. One of their most prominent uses is the subway, built with the help of tunnel boring machines (TBMs).

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Optimal earthquake intensity measures for probabilistic seismic demand models of ARP1400 reactor containment building

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2021
This study identifies efficient earthquake intensity measures (IMs) for seismic performances and fragility evaluations of the reactor containment building (RCB) in the advanced power reactor 1400 (APR1400) nuclear power plant (NPP).

Accelerated spectral clustering using graph filtering of random signals [PDF]

open access: yes2016 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2016
We build upon recent advances in graph signal processing to propose a faster spectral clustering algorithm. Indeed, classical spectral clustering is based on the computation of the first k eigenvectors of the similarity matrix' Laplacian, whose computation cost, even for sparse matrices, becomes prohibitive for large datasets.
