A Spectral Acceleration Approach for the Spherical Harmonics Discrete Ordinate Method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
A spectral acceleration approach for the spherical harmonics discrete ordinate method (SHDOM) is designed. This approach combines the correlated k-distribution method and some dimensionality reduction techniques applied on the optical parameters of an ...

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

An automated methodology for performing time synchronous averaging of a gearbox signal without speed sensor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper we extend a sensorless algorithm proposed by Bonnardot et al. for angular resampling of the acceleration signal of a gearbox submitted to limited speed fluctuation.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Advanced Ion Acceleration Mechanisms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
One of the main applications of high power laser facilities is particle acceleration. It is due to the fact that ultrashort laser pulses in plasma are able to generate elec-tromagnetic fields exceeding those typical for the conventional accelerators by ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Site specific design response spectrum proposed for the capital city of Agartala, Tripura

open access: yesGeomatics, Natural Hazards & Risk, 2016
The design response spectrum is smooth in shape compared to other response spectra. The objective of design spectra is to estimate the possible earthquake lateral loads which may experience on a particular structure during its design life. In this study,

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Spectral modeling for accelerated pH spectroscopy using EPR [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance, 2012
A data modeling and processing method for electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR)-based pH spectroscopy is presented. The proposed method models the EPR spectrum of a pH-sensitive probe in both protonated and unprotonated forms. Under slow-exchange conditions, the EPR spectrum of a sample with an unknown pH value can be accurately represented by a ...
